Help with Les Paul Identification

I am considering buying this Les Paul, but I am having a problem finding its value since I do not know what it is exactly. They guy says it is a Classic, but they headstock does not say classic as they should (from what I understand). It almost seems like a Studio model to me since it is missing its binding. Any help would be great!

Serial # 01941528

Thanks. Anthony

Re: Help with Les Paul Identification

It's a Studio. I have the same guitar, only in cherry-red & gold hardware.

Besides the other Studio features, one of the telltale signs is the dot on "i" slightly offset to the left, touching the "G". I've seen it only on Studios.

In my youth I rocked with a Strat, but with age came an appreciation for class and style... so I bought me
a Les Paul. Cherry-red with gold hardware. Goes well with my greys.

Re: Help with Les Paul Identification

Definately not a Classic (no binding on body or neck); it's a Studio.

Re: Help with Les Paul Identification

So is the guy trying to con you by trying to pass this off as a classic, or does he genuinely not know about it?
