1996 Les Paul Studio Ferrari Red

I've been looking for info on the guitar all over the web and I can't find anything. I have a 1996 Gibson Les Paul Studio. It is a limited edition Ferrari Red. I've found information on the GEM series guitars, but mine isn't one of those. It has a limited edition banner on the back, silver hardware, and a thick ferrari red paint. I just wondered if anyone had heard anything about these guitars, like how many were made? How "limited" is the edition? Is there much of anything different about them than other Studio's of the same year? Any more value/worth? I'm just curious and I'm not finding any info.

Could it be a "GO" model? They came in candy colors and flames, but never heard of Ferrari Red.

I have a Tele in Torino red, they couldn't use the word Ferrari (copyrighted). The coolest color ever for a rock guitar. If your LP is in the same hue, way to go man

Re: 1996 Les Paul Studio Ferrari Red

I'll work on getting a couple pics up. I may have been "lied" to about the color when I got it. It was back in 1996. I just haven't found anything on a limited edition of gibson les paul's from that year other than the Gem series, of which this does not have the Gem ensignia, but a "limited edition" one. I know it was made in April of 1996 using the serial number coding off Gibson's website. But... that still didn't really answer my questions. If the color has a different name, I'm still curious what the correct name is, because to my knowledge, the color is what is "limited edition" about it. But I'm just lost. It sounds great, and I love it regardless of anything else about it, I'm just curious.

Re: 1996 Les Paul Studio Ferrari Red

i have an 86 ferrari red studio(custom shop), are you sure it's a 96? my studio has a 3 pc maple neck, and tim shaw pickups. ferrari red was pretty limited, and was a result of a deal between gibson, and ferrari. http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...d/DSCF1554.jpg

These aren't real great pictures, but are a couple quick ones to give an idea of the color and limited edition banner thing

Re: 1996 Les Paul Studio Ferrari Red

I emailed Gibson directly and got somewhat of an answer from them. They did produce a Ferrari Red Les Paul Studio in 1996. The serial number on my guitar is consistent with that line. However they were unable to tell me any other production details.
