Got my replacement today
This one came with a case.. The replacement was finished in March 3, 2009 and my original was finished April 9, 2009 3 days before my birthday. The replacement is lighter in color (Picture doesn't pick that up). 3 Piece body with one of the seems makes up the horn. 590 w/HSC is my final price..

Re: Got my replacement today
I think the original played better but that could because I bonded with it right off the bat. Same with the tone.. I might be trying to find something wrong with it because it's a replacement.

Re: Got my replacement today
Aesthically speaking, your original looks much nicer. Very nice grain patter. The big "oval" on the replacement is a deal breaker for me.
Just one guy's Internet opinion.

Re: Got my replacement today
I think they both look cool and the replacement looks more unique. After a proper setup on the replacement, keep the one that plays the best. If it happens to be the original, don't be afraid to send the replacement back or you'll regret it. Playability, tone, and mojo are critical. It doesn't do you any good to keep the one that plays the worst. And you can fix the crack/seam to make it invisible. A $590 replacement will probably split at a seam over time anyway. Just my $.02.

Re: Got my replacement today
Can you describe where the crack was from the back view of the original and is it just the way it looks in the photo or is the original's seam non-parallel to the centerline ?
Just curious. thanks. EDIT: no its just the picture, its aligned. PS, like the second better.

Re: Got my replacement today
So if you keep the old one, will it be as sturdy with that crack in it? Could be me, but from some of the pictures in the old thread, it looks to me that the crack extended into the top a little ways. Maybe take it to a luthier that you trust to get an opinion?
If it were me, I'd keep the replacement. The back looks freakin sweet.

Re: Got my replacement today
I wouldn't even think of keeping the one with the crack. Not when you paid for a new guitar (no matter what kind of deal you got on it). Who knows what else might be going on inside all those hidden cavities.

Re: Got my replacement today
it may seem to be a seam, but if it is a crack, then it is whack.

Re: Got my replacement today
Well my opinion is that for $590.00 with HSC you made out like a bandit. Cosmetically, the back of the replacement is really cool IMO and the top is also kind of unique. So, equal or better looks, case and no crack. The big question is do you find one sounds/plays significantly better than the other?

Re: Got my replacement today
Has the new one been setup? If not perhaps it will be play better for you after it is. The new one does have a unique look to it. BTW did you know that you were getting the case with it or was that thrown in by them?
