It's a 60's neck. I was under the impression that all the Pro's were 60's?

They have a 50's neck version available now, in Honeyburst only.

Re: the official Les Paul Traditional love thread

Well to be honest, I don't know enough about guitars to know a 50's from a 60's. I haven't been playing very long and haven't played a lot of LP's. I do know that the neck is thinner than the one that was on an SG Standard I had for a bit. I liked the thicker neck, but like the LP better, so I traded it in on the LP.

Love the grain on that one!

Mine has a '50s neck but it is from a limited run here in Canada so isn't widely available (although some have trickled over to Europe).

The first one you posted turned me on to this color. I like the flamed top too, but that plain top was the cat's meow.

I would eventually have had colour added to that one to make it less yellow.

You're getting it refinished?

No, I meant the plain top I used to have. If I still had that guitar I would have had colour added. With my current one I doubt I will add colour. I would prefer it have more colour, but doubt I will bother doing anything about it with this one.

I thought that they only made the honey trad pro with a 50s neck which is why I asked. That is very weird.

I wish they would have made that when I got mine- I still probably would have bought my cherryburst but I love that finish and the top.

Thanks. I drove to my local GC, which is 40 minutes away and looked at it. I figured that it would be a beat up junk, cause it was used, but I got lucky and it was like new. I got it for $1275, instead of the $2000 the new one was, so I'm happy.

Wow, thats a steal! Mine came kind of dinged up when I bought it new so buying used was probably a good idea anyways. I only got mine for 10% off too so you probably got a guitar in the same condition (maybe even better) as a new one.

Re: the official Les Paul Traditional love thread

I looked at a guitar a while back that was banged up real bad. It was a floor model and the last one they had. I asked about a scratch and dent discount and they said they don't do that cause it's new, and they have to sell it at a new price. I left it there. I don't much like GC, but in this case I did ok.

i thought "new" implied scratchless and dentless.

Re: the official Les Paul Traditional love thread

Hello, New to MLP, I have been lurking about in the shadows reading and reading, looking at all of these fabulous guitars.
I just got into a second Les Paul Traditional its a 2011. Thought I would show it off a bit. Selling the first one, probably.

I learned a bunch of stuff on this site, I'm not new to guitars or Les Paul's but I have had a resurfacing of the desire to own and play a '59. I have been as "Strat" guy for sometime, 18 years or so. I did have a Paul back in 2000 it was a Classic, Clear Amber, plain top, real pretty guitar, just really disliked the tone, and the neck was tiny compared to my strat. 60's "Slim Taper" never again....

So when I had the opportunity to play a Trad, the 50's neck called to me and here I am.

I am thinking of changing the wiring to 50's wiring after reading these posts in the tone section. Anyone have the experience in the end results of going from Trad wiring and Pots to some of these prewired kits from aftermarket sources?

Thanx in advance

Welcome - and let's see some pics of your LP!

I have no experience with the wiring kits but am curious as to the other responses you will receive as I plan to change the pots in mine when I either swap pickups or have the pickup covers added.

Re: the official Les Paul Traditional love thread

OK Here we go, I put different knobs and the pointer washers, I don't know why Gibson stopped doing these washers. I removed the Trad Truss cover and put a plain one on and also changed out the Pickup rings to the historic spec PRPR-035. Which are flat on the bottom. Didn't see to make sense to me to not be able to find the right ones.

I am thinking of nickle plate hardware, but tone is everything and first.

Ain't she a beaut!

Thanx, Since I'm off today.... it's photo day! My Strats are jealously looking on as if they have been left out and the other Paul is like WT*. So I think group photos are in order.

There are some really creative shots on this site so I may just set up my own little studio or head outside.

Thanx for looking!

It was a combination of leaving it out in the sun as well as just playing it/leaving it in my living room. I have a patio door that lets in a ton of light during the mornings so it would soak up plenty of sun

OK took more, but not better shots of this one. This guitar is difficult to get the colors right. Its way more brown then the camera shows, it more honey burst than "Light Burst" but in the sun its eye popping. Anyway enjoy.

Congtats!!

...rough - thatīs traditional standard ..fretboard too

Mine had to be overworked - done!

Itīs a bit tricky and needs a lot of time, but when itīs done - itīs much better. Must not done in one day - time after time...

Nice LP
