Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Gold Top
Hi all,
First post on this useful and friendly looking forum, and it has cool Slash smilies too! ![]() Anyway, I've recently been offered a Gibson Les Paul Gold Top Deluxe, which from the serial number I gather is a '74 or '75. The bottom mini humbucker has been replaced with what I'm told is a 50's Gibson PAF full size humbucker. I've got it to play with for a week to see if I'm interested in buying, however the seller wants £3,000 for it...or about $4,920. I've attached a picture of it, but what I'd like to know if it's worth that asking price? What sort of prices do these usually go for? Regards Daniel

What is the serial number? More pics?
That is NOT a '50s PAF. ![]() The guitar itself looks fine, but they want at least 2K too much for it.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Gold Top
Probably a '74. As you know, the bridge was routed for a full sized bucker and I'm sorry to say that it is not a real '50s PAF. Unless someone put one of those ugly covers from '72 on it. Not sure why anyone would do that..
![]() ![]() It looks to be in great shape otherwise.. I wouldn't go any higher than 2500US. |

Don't buy it, or bargain.

Re: Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Gold Top
It's surely a sweet player but the price is too high. Both my Deluxe's are routed and are the best guitars Eye've ever owned. But they are only worth maybe $2000 to a player (on the high side) and $0 to a collector. Me Eye'm a player.
