Problems with a Gibson Chainsaw Case.
Just received a Gibson Chainsaw Case & it was listed as fitting the Les Paul. Thing is it don't fit my Traditional nor my Historics.
Fits an SG perfectly as well as the Les Paul Junior I've got. Question: Did Gibson make different sized Chainsaw Cases? I thought they were all the same? Thanks! edit: This one is the 2nd edition with the metal latches. Very nice case actually, it just won't close without using some force when placing a Les Paul in it. |

Re: Problems with a Gibson Chainsaw Case.
Yeah, kinda pisses me off as the seller listed it as fitting an LP no problem but wasn't sure if an SG would fit.
Ha! It's the other way around!

Re: Problems with a Gibson Chainsaw Case.
Well it certainly makes sense.
Wish I'd known but I'm sure I'll find a use for it as it does fit not only an SG but any uncarved LP such as the Juniors & Specials. Hmmmm.... excellent reason to shop a new guitar that only comes with a Gig Bag such as the Satin Juniors?

Re: Problems with a Gibson Chainsaw Case.
Same problem I encountered, only I had a Gen 1 case. Turns out, the dimensions of the specs of the past LP's were different than today's so the foam at the heel was not yet really pushed down. It's alright now. Stuck it in for a week.

Re: Problems with a Gibson Chainsaw Case.
If I remember correctly, Gen 1 cases were only made for LP's so it only had a single spec. Gen 2 cases were made separately; SG's and LP's.

Re: Problems with a Gibson Chainsaw Case.
yeah that is not for the LP. I have two chainsaw cases, one houses my 84 Studio and the other my 86 Custom. Both fit perfectly.

And it does look like it should be for an SG.. My chainsaw doesn't look like that at all on the inside.

Re: Problems with a Gibson Chainsaw Case.
Yeah, I'm finally coming to terms that it's not going to work as advertised.
It does work great for an SG or a LP JR. Actually any LP without the carved top. Damn. I really wanted one for one of my Les Pauls. Actually considered just squooshing it down & hoping for the best in a week or two but really dont' want to put that kind of stress on any of my carved top guitars. ![]() Thank you Boles.

Re: Problems with a Gibson Chainsaw Case.
The form fit is all wrong, shouldn't it mold to the LP body, not an LP case as already stated.
