Pickguard or no? Pics inside...

It's that age-old question. The Studios with burst finishes do not come with a pickguard--not even in the case. I'm curious if anyone thinks it would look better with one. Here's a quick Photoshop rendering of what it would look like:

Without (stock):...and With:

We'll even make it a poll!

On that guitar? No.

When's the next joke coming along? ala pickguard, nibs, etc.

Leave it as is. Pick guards suck tone straight out of your guitar. They also cause the gum disease GINGIVITIS....

You should photoshop some different PG colors so we can really get a sense of what is and what shouldnt be.

Lol the facepalms My rule that I follow is this, if it didn't come with the pickguard in place and it has a nice top, leave it off. If it came with one on, leave it on. Makes the decision very easy for me

In Swedish "Pick" is another word for.. Di*k... I don't need any guard for my pick...

Also "Pitt" is another word for Di*k, as Brad once said - Those damn Swedes..

Re: Pickguard or no? Pics inside...

IMO PG's provide 2 functions; 1) To protect the finish and 2) Enhance the overall look of your guitar.
You need to decide what you are trying to accomplish. If its to enhance or make your LP different, then put one on. If its to protect, consider this option...They are screw-less that attach under the pickup rings.

Re: Pickguard or no? Pics inside...

On a fireburst I think the PG actually makes it look more complete. Ironically, by hiding some of the finish it doesn't scream out to you as much - making it easier to appreciate the burst job on it. Plus it's cool the way it peaks out from underneath on the horn.

Well, if you are referring to me, I don't see what's the problem: I used an old thread. Is there any rule against resurfacing threads older than a couple of months?
