les paul double cuts?

this is many many years ahead of me but obveously im thinking of my first gibson les paul and i origionally had it in my mind i would buy a 1960 vos reissue, after playing all of the les pauls at two of my local dealer which included five vos guitars i didn't really know whaich way i wanted to go i played the LP doublecut and was really happy wiht the feel and weight of it allong wiht the look, but the electronics left a bit to be desired dose anyone know if gibson makes an LP doublecut with a tone and volume for each pickup?

any advice you want to throw in to help me with my decision would be appreceated as well.

I personally favor the LP Double-Cut over an actual Les Paul any day of the week. The looks and primarily the weight of the guitar are what draw me to it over a normal LP.

I really don't think you can wrong. And it isn't like you can't throw a set of your favorite p/us in it down the road as well.

The Double-Cut Pro is one of my dream guitars.

Re: les paul double cuts?

The only LP DC that I know of that has twin volume and tone controls is the Faded DC with P90s. I know thats not what you're looking for, but I don't think the regular DC comes that way.

That is correct.

The Faded DC with P90s is a pretty decent guitar though. I like them, but then again I have played some that have had rough feeling necks, like seriously almost cut my fingers

i played a beautiful LP DC pro with a great flamed maple greay smokey finish it was only 3.8 grand if it had the extra tone and volume controll i would have put a down payment on it there and then.

Re: les paul double cuts?

yup theyre nice. played my first one a few weeks ago and didnt realize it only had 1 master tone. I thought the one i had was modified but soon learned otherwise.

im sure that you can retro-fit it with 2 tones and just drill out a hole for the toggle someplace. if thats helps ya. cost wise it wont be expensive

Re: les paul double cuts?

I honestly don't think it needs the additional 2 control knobs.

It works fine with two, but thats just me.

Re: les paul double cuts?

Just got one - Ebony Plain Top LP DC - and its awesome! Its versatility in both looks and playability has no equal. To me, its just one tone knob short of being the ultimate Gibson to me. I hate the Longhorn model though.

Re: les paul double cuts?

I've never liked them really but just yesterday I received my new M/F catalog and it had that new blue double cutaway (I forget what it was called). I thought it looked really nice, I actually thought it was a PRS at first glance. The ebony above also looks really nice.
But hey, a couple months ago I couldn't stand black/white "zebra" pickups and now I'm gassing for a LP with them.

Re: les paul double cuts?

I'd like to give one a try. I think they look really cool, but I wouldn't order one without playing it.

Re: les paul double cuts?

They are beautiful, and a great mix of tone, classic design and playability.

I love them, but they are just too damn pretty for a guy like me to play on stage.

It's funny, because as beautiful as a Les Paul can be, they can always be gritty as well. Dunno why that is.
