The year of my Gibson Les Paul Deluxe

I was wondering if anybody could help me find out the year my Les Paul Deluxe was made?The # is 187891.I think it's maybe a '73 or'74.but i'm not sure.Any thought's?

it's definately before '75. Post pics and tell us about the whole guitar. How many pieces on the neck? The body? What's the volute like? etc etc

I'm not a pro at this stuff but there are many pros here and should be able to tell you what year it is pretty quickly. This one guy on here told me exactly what year my 1975 deluxe was without even looking at the serial number. And once I got a couple of digits out of it, it screamed 75 to me.

Best indicator would be the codes from original pots. Look for a 7-digit number on a volume or tone pot that begins with 137. The next two numbers will be the year, and the last two are the week of that year that the pot was made. The guitar had to have been assembled shortly after the newest pot.

Does it have a mahogany neck?
