That one on the left just does it for me... Plain top! I love it! I'm not usually a fan of Classics, but I LOVE the plain top... I've seen some that have made the hair stand up on my neck... so gorgeous!

No Gold Top. It is an original Les Paul Standard in Trans Amber. It was in 1993 a special order with that three piece top, Gibson Service told me, and probably it is one of a kind....

I have had over 20 (mostly new) guitars in the last 30 years, including various strats and teles, Gretsch Country Classic, Gibson Bicentennial Firebird ('76), Gibson L6S and Epiphone Les Pauls ('56 Goldtop/ebony deluxe/ sunburst standard) plus the guitars in my pics in the gallery (the blue one is an all original mid 70's John Birch), but I have to say that the two Les Pauls pictured here are my most treasured for their look, feel and sounds. They've both been properly gigged. The standard is a plaintop, the deluxe goldtop looks like a "relic" close up and they both have their share of dings and bucklerash. I used to buy new and keep pristine, but character is really what it's all about!

Here is one I used to own. I think it had for me the perfect top, that crinkly kind of pearly gates style flame. Im working on a guitar now with a dead nuts Pearly gates top. Just thinking about how it will look when the first coat of nitro hits it gets me into the woodshop every evening. I miss this one though.

I love flame! 2000 LP Elegant, peacock green, CTS pots with Hovland caps, aluminum tail piece and bone nut on top of a re-fret.

And I love plain! 1976 LPC tsb. DiMarzio Super Distortion bridge pickup and I've changed the the plastic hardware with creme instead of black.

I want it all!

#1 choice ...My cherry was popped with the Goldtop.
Goldtops represent the whole world of da Blues like Freddy king ya know!?.

The white boys really pushed the Flames. My 2nd choice has been the Tobacco Sunburst flametop. Its like Napalm in the morning....old world
