Has anyone seen this guitar West of the Mississippi yet? Even my local [4 hours away] Guitar Center is surprised!

Gotta be honest, I don't dig the black pickguard. But to each his own!

I want to know if anybody here picked one up today.

Push pulls split the HB's into single coils.

Smallish update. Talked with the local GC manager and he says that the neck on this guitar is a 57. I really hate him for this because it is going to make me look much harder at this guitar. I am wondering out loud to all of you ... I wonder what this guitar might be going for at the end of the year blow out sales? Just thinking Any thoughts out there? Thanks.

Re: 2014 Gibson Les Paul Special AAA Flame Top Semi-Hollow

I disagree on the neck. My SG classic has a much thicker neck than this LP. Its more of a 60's to my hands. For those asking about the sound, its articulate and snappy esp. in the single coil mode , but not shrill or overly bright at all. Very balanced sounding and I have brighter strings on mine. Thomastik Infeld Power brights.

Re: 2014 Gibson Les Paul Special AAA Flame Top Semi-Hollow

^ When I played it, it sounded very balanced. Not too dark, not too bright. Just perfect...

^^ The guitar has a 57 Classic in the neck and a Super 57 in the bridge. This is a great combo and helps make it the best sounding guitar for the money anywhere. Not even joking!

And unfortunately I think a member here got scalped on the first one to hit ebay. I believe it sold for $1499?? His post went too quick for me to see it and he pulled the trigger. I picked one up from my GC though. Its in my gear album

Re: 2014 Gibson Les Paul Special AAA Flame Top Semi-Hollow

$1499 is barely worth the time/effort when you factor in eBay/PayPal fees. That's even money practically at the street price of $1199.

It's the gouging I have an issue with. Just plain silly more than it is bad business.

Usually , that's a no brainier........but on this guitar they take treble off and the other one is some kind of a feedback thingy for the "F" hole. I got the sales price on this guitar I'm just waiting until the weekend to pick it up.

I heard back from the GC manager today. Sez these are "promotional" guitars with only limited availability. Gibson does not plan on making a wide spread release of this model. All things considered with a new house and all I may have to let this one pass. Sigh. Always another new Gibby out there. Blues on ya.

I returned my Les Paul Special to GC last week and saw one of these beauties on the wall. I used my refund on a down payment, and I hope to pick this one up tomorrow! I'll never afford the Florentine, but this is great for me (and They knocked a $100.00 off the price!

The one I'm getting has Black with dark blue or black lining. I have a feeling these will sell out quickly!

Re: 2014 Gibson Les Paul Special AAA Flame Top Semi-Hollow

I played one for aa half hour or so while checking out an amp I went to buy. I thought it was a nice guitar. Flat top like a jr, nice sounding and playing. The granadillo fretboard was light in color but felt nice and the finish was fantastic for a Gibson.

Just picked up one of these beauties at the Austin,TX Guitar Center. No specs on the guitar besides what I saw on the flyer, but here is a pic with the case. Got a lot of compliments showing it off today.

Re: 2014 Gibson Les Paul Special AAA Flame Top Semi-Hollow

I have found no links to this guitar anywhere. In fact when I picked mine up Friday at the GC in Austin, I asked if there was a spec sheet that came with the guitar, so I could know for sure what all the parts were, and he said it did not come with one, so officially, I only know what was in the GC mailer. Kinda strange. He said he thought only some of the GCs got one (170 or so), so not sure how accurate that is, and that he does not know if they will get another. Guess I will have to call Gibson to see if they can give me the specs.

I just got mine at the GC in Fountain Valley CA. They were the only one in 50 miles to get one. As mentioned earlier, these are limited edition NAMM guitars and only select stores will get them. They are selling for twice the street price on EBay and Craigslist, so if you want one and see one at your GC, better grab it.

Wow. I really had no idea about any of that. I don't plan on selling it or making any money with it , but I guess its good to know . I just knew it was not an ordinary guitar when I took it off the wall. In fact I had left it for a quick set up the other day.Its really just across the street and the neck needed a quick tweak. I gave it a few runs on the floor amp just to make sure it was good and two people lined up behind me waiting for me to put it back on the rack. I was like no......its sold brother. Sorry.
