Even some GC models sometimes make their way to other retailers; i've seen a bunch of Trad Pro II's and Studio Deluxes in European shops lately.

Got myself a Trad pro 2 in the uk last month.
Wonder if I could get a natural one of these here too?

Re: Les Paul Classic Custom 2

I know it's consistant with the last one, but it's disappointing to set yet another SLIM neck LP.

Nice guitar, but right now Gibson USA is really failing the 50's neck market IMO.

I assume the majority of people enjoy slim necks.

The standard inlays and holly inlay really do it for me.

If I had the bucks, I'd nab one.

Not sure that's true, but either way it's nice to have options rather than the same profile coming on the majority of models.

Re: Les Paul Classic Custom 2

Very cool!!!

Glad to see these back again, they are awesome guitars. Also happy to see it in two of my favorite finishes: wine red, and natural.

If they offer this in a desert burst finish my wife is going to be P!$$ED!!!

I really like the natural.

I like that they have a rosewood board and the traditional inlays. It's definitely nice..

Re: Les Paul Classic Custom 2

I guess I'm the only one that is underwhelmed. Sure it's nice. I wish they would have stepped a little further out of the box. The specs seem old and tired. And the paw print on the headstock is nothing new. How about something such as an asymmetrical neck, compound radius fretboard, ebony board, locking tuners, nice bridge/tailpiece combo, or even a 57+. I'd bet a paycheck it has the same coil split PC board as whatever tribute or studio with coil splits.

Most any new Les Paul model is cool. I like both colors. I'm glad the CC is not dead. I just think this is weak on WOW factor. It seems the only criteria for a CC is headstock binding.

Re: Les Paul Classic Custom 2

They need to offer this in black with gold hardware, and aged binding and inlays...

What's that you say? They already did in 2007? Well, my friends, this new one would not be chambered, and would thus be 2,978 times better (if they could somehow manage a real ebony fretboard too).

i liked the previous model (2011) more better. split diamond > crown, blocks > traps, more colors. have to admit tho, rosewood > bm.

Re: Les Paul Classic Custom 2

Glad they came back for round 2 with this guitar. I was very closing to getting one a couple years back. Obviously, there are a lot of things that Gibson could have done to increase the "wow" factor, but then it would jump right out of the price range for people who want custom appointments/look, but can't afford the custom price tag. Kudos for delivering a great guitar at a great price point for the working/gigging musician.

Obviously, I realize it's all purely subjective, but I think the styling of this current Classic Custom and the one from 2007 are more interesting than the 2011 CC. The crown and trapezoid inlays combined with the multi-ply binding give the guitar a look of its own that is more befitting of the "Classic Custom" moniker, whereas the 2011 just looks like a Custom that's missing its back binding.

I like both finishes. Is that so wrong? And is it wrong for me to wish that the bridge pickup was a Classic PLUS and not a regular '57 Classic?

My preferance is 50s necks, but I can still work with a 60s out of neccesity. Bought a 335 a year ago . Try finding a fat neck anywhere.

Re: Les Paul Classic Custom 2

****Edit*** After looking I noticed my statement below is not true, old classics had the blocks and custom veneer, yes I agree I like the old better.

Same exact guitar except one has baked maple and one has rosewood, so yes just as nice just depends on which board you like better.

Very unfortunate of Gibson. All the new stuff coming with puny necks. Try finding a fat neck 335.
