Re: Gibson Guitar Of The Week~
Sorry, but mini-bucker's are just so unattractive, don't know why, but they are. They just don't seem to fit in with the look of a Les Paul to me.
Ohh, and btw Guitargal, thanks for the comment on my 92' Cherryburst with the Bigsby, much appreciated!

Re: Gibson Guitar Of The Week~
I have a goldtop R7.I think I remember paying 409 dollars and change,in 1972, when I bought my Cherry Sunburst version,of the same thing.I do like the bigger buckers, and suspect that if I got one,I would turn it into an R6.The Deluxe I got back then was my first Les Paul.

Re: Gibson Guitar Of The Week~
How can anyone assess it's value before playing it? Some Gibsons sound terrible regardless of the pickups where some show potential even with crap pickups. I quite like a goldtop but the mini buckers would come out in favour of some P90's.

Re: Gibson Guitar Of The Week~
That guitar needs to be routed for Buckers, No it just needs the 50 P90 treatment. Doesn't do anything for me.

Re: Gibson Guitar Of The Week~
Years ago I heard a guy who played a LP with a mini in the neck and it had been routed out for a full size HB in the bridge. He used the neck for cleans and the bridge for overdrives. He had some killer tone.

Mine. She kicks ass. Sounds as filthy as a bitch in heat and gives some of the purest blues tones you could ever need.
[IMG] [/IMG]Mini hums are the dog's bollox.......Those who don't like, go buy a Fender :

Re: Gibson Guitar Of The Week~
I had a '74 deluxe, gold top with minihums that I sold for $900 a few years back to buy, of all things, a Wolfgang. Yes, I still kick myself for that one.
Minihums are a cool sound. They're not a standard LP, but they're not supposed to be. |
