LP Double-Cut Pro
I think this is one of my favorite guitars. Played one the other day at GC. Really really like it a lot.
I haven't seen any threads about them on here, whats everybody think of them?

Re: LP Double-Cut Pro
The couple I tried out were 24 fret, so they still do.

Re: LP Double-Cut Pro
I could be wrong man, but I'm pretty sure they still have them. I tried to look on Gibson's site, but they were having server problems or something =/

Re: LP Double-Cut Pro
I am thinking about a DC Pro, trans black.
But Wildstar is right per Gibsons web page, they are now 22 fret. I played one at GC, really liked it. For whatever reason, the guitar sales dude told me they are a bitch to string? Anyone know why that would be? I didnt ask him because he was blabbing away when I was trying to concentrate on what I was playing. |

There are probably plenty of left over "New" 24 fret models hanging in stores, my guess is they did not sell real well. |

Re: LP Double-Cut Pro
whats confusing me is that GC has the dc with a bound fretboard and the dc pro specs do not show that. is the one at GC exclusive to them?

Re: LP Double-Cut Pro
I wonder why they didn't sell very well. I love the DC, and from what I knew, so did a lot of other players.

Re: LP Double-Cut Pro
I had a DC standard once, killer guitar. Mine was an older model, 1998 I believe, and it was chambered with a 24 fret neck. I don't like 24, so that ended up being a deal killer for me in the end and I sold it. It was clearly Gibson's answer to the PRS Santana model. While the new ones offer 22, they dropped the neck binding so again that's a deal killer for me personally. I gotta have neck binding on my Gibsons
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's another, but this one's a historic DC special and not a standard. Beefy neck, P-90's, awsome TV white. Another killer choice that I might look for again later on. ![]()

Re: LP Double-Cut Pro
For the money they are a better buy than the regular Les Paul Standard.

The "historic" DC is sweet as well. I would love to have one of those. I almost bought one of the faded Les Pauls, in TV Yelllow. But, then I found my LP Custom for so cheap and got it. I would definitely like to own a DC pro in the future.

But man, LP Standard... that is just one of those GOTTA HAVE guitars. I love the DC-Pro, but it will never be as great as a high-end LP. I could definitely see me having a DC-Pro as my playing-out guitar though. On a second-thought... A Les Paul Classic could be had for around $1700 as well. How well does the DC-Pro compare to that?

Re: LP Double-Cut Pro
The GC Double cut is not what is on the gibby site. I have one. It is a great guitar and really is a les paul shape/size etc. You loose a tone control for the three pos switch, and it is chambered. I think it's still in my sig. All the same binding etc as a normal LP. Again, NOT what you can find on the gibby site. I've seen them in two local guitar centers(chicago area). No idea why they arent better marketed.
Of course, since it is a double cut, theneck joint is much more friendly for high fret access. It also has what would be considered a long neck tenon-if they didnt chop into the upper bout.

Re: LP Double-Cut Pro
I had one of the old LP Standard DC's. It was a 2002. Those are the ones with 24 frets. Nice guitar, but for some reason I just didn't bond with it. The new LP DC Pro's have 22 frets. The reason for the switch back to 22 frets was to be able to push the rhythm pickup forward so that the pole pieces are where the 24th fret would be (like a regular LP)..
