At What Age Did You Get Your First Gibson ?

Why hello there guys !

Just curious at what age you were when you got you're first Gibby ? or any other fact about it .. what model was it? what finish ? you know .. all that good stuff

I'm still 13 and stuck with the Gibson's at the store, but hey .. i can dream

I'm 15, got my R8 a couple months ago. Some advice, if you want it, get a job as soon as you're 14 and it's legal to work and start saving up your money. Maybe you could even referee your favorite sport, I referee Ice Hockey, it pays very well.

You can do it, set a goal for yourself and you'll find a way to accomplish it.

I was born with a Gibson, literally. My Mom bought this J-45 new in 1964, I was born in 71 and it became mine. I played my first chords on it.

I bought my first Gibson in 1995, and still have it.

Wow! Lots of young guns here!

I've been playing since I was 12 but didn't get a Gibson until I was 46.

However I've bought over 10 of them in the past year so that kind of makes up for it!

I've not kept them all however. I've been refinishing VM's & BFG's to turn them around on eBay. I don't make much money & that's not including my time but I love doing it so it truly is a labor of love!

Either that our I'm just plum crazy.

I do have some very happy customers though.

I bought my first Les Paul back in '78, I was 16 and the guitar was a -71 Deluxe. I'm glad I didn't keep it, I probably would have ruined it during the eighties with Floyd Rose and EMG...

Wow alot of young kids got theirs at a young age~!!!!

I mine at 47~!!!!

Although I been a bass player for many years, my first Fender P-Bass I bought when I was back in 1978 or 1979 and I was 18 or so~!!!!

I was 29 when I got my first (and only) Gibson Les Paul Standard. It's a wine red standard from '86. That was August of last year. I'd wanted a real Gibson for a long time. It's a keeper. It caused GAS for a couple of my friends who went out and bought their first Gibsons as well.

19 I think. It was a 1978 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe. Aged cream binding, and a deep red wine color. Almost Burgundy. It literally was perfect. And hardly played when I got it. Get this. Some old guy traded it in at Mr. Entertainment, for a Peavey T60. lol

I got the Les Paul for 900 with case.... from my buddy who was a Salesperson there at the time. He phones me up, and tells me bout said Deluxe. Cha Chinggggg. I had him hold it for me and bought it bout an hour later. Wish I still had that guitar.

22 years old when i got my first Gibson Les Paul back in August. Had my eye on getting one since I was 11 years old. Stopped playing guitar for a couple years, and when I finally picked it up again, I told myself I definitally need get around to getting one if I'm gonna play again.

13. I got a 1969 SG/LP from a dude down the street (I think he was a heroin junkie) in 1979 for 150 bucks. She was a beauty, heritage cherry with the lyre tailpiece and seriously awesome tone. I traded her in on a 1981 LPC 2 years later, and it was stolen less than a year later. I finally got another LPC like the one I lost 25 years later! I'm still saving for another SG/LP like the one I traded in, too. Good memories in that guitar. I learned to play the whole 2112 album on that old SG. Good times, Good times...

Well, when I was 15, it was 1981, and Gibsons were not nearly as expensive as they are today. They were a LOT cheaper.
