NGD - 2012 Gibson Studio Deluxe

So I just recently purchased my very first Gibson, a 2012 Gibson Studio Deluxe. I tried out a few different Studios, the Deluxe, and a Traditional Pro. Something about the Deluxe just felt the best to me and I am really happy with the purchase. Right now the selector switch is broken (the actual switch broke off, but it still works). I got a few hundred knocked off the price for that, and they ordered me the new part. Also, I am considering putting on a cream pickguard. Any thoughts on that? Anyway, I am very excited with my purchase and I am happy to have my first Les Paul.

Congrats. Good job looking at the options and choosing what's right for you. And forget out the pick guard, imo.

Cool. I have one of those too. I am going with no pickguard but I put gold speed knobs on mine.

Re: NGD - 2012 Gibson Studio Deluxe

Thanks for all the replies. I am shying away from the pick guard idea, but I still want to figure out some way to make it a little bit unique. Maybe it will come in time. Just out of curiosity, how do you post pictures directly like that?

Re: NGD - 2012 Gibson Studio Deluxe

Nice guitar mate, well done.

I bought one here Down Under in Australia a couple of months back. Only change I felt it needed was some chrome keystone tuner buttons so I did that and have been happy ever since.

Your guitar so you make it your own by customising it however you like but I wouldn't like to see it with a pick guard. Let that lovely maple show!

Nice guitar, Many happy hours I hope is your's with it. What color is it by the way? I have a 2010 in Heritage Cherry Sunburst. I think they happen to look better without the pick guard.

Re: NGD - 2012 Gibson Studio Deluxe

I do the naked paula thing.

NO pickguard and NO poker chip with a chrome tip and chromed rings.

Or leave the creme rings and tip.

I always yank the pokerchip and guard.

Thats how i make mine stand out

Re: NGD - 2012 Gibson Studio Deluxe

HNGD. I have one, they are fantastic guitars. I put pointers on the control knobs and, changed the switchtip to amber, swapped the TRC for a plain one and then popped a B7 Bigsby on using a Vibramate V7.

As for the pickguard, IMO there's a reason they don't put one in the box with these guitars!

Re: NGD - 2012 Gibson Studio Deluxe

I have on of those too, mine is a 2010. I decided to put the pick guard on mine as I just like the looks of a Les Paul better with one. Mine's in my signature if you want to see what it looks like.

Re: NGD - 2012 Gibson Studio Deluxe

Congratulations on the new LP Studio Deluxe, it's such a sweet guitar. I bought mine which is a 2010 rosewood fret board version with the pick guard already installed. I much prefer the look of LP's that have the pick guard so it is something I would have done had it not already been there. Here are some pics so you can see what your baby might look like if you go in that direction. In the pictures the guitar has a set of Seymour Duncan Antiquities and not the uncovered pickups as you can see. Hope these pics help you decide which direction to go. Good luck you can't go wrong either way seems to me.
