Les Paul Jr Case?

Hey all,

Does anybody know of a company manufacturing a hard case for the Les Paul Jr? I tried a few google searched and came up empty.

Thanks

You should be able to get a Yorkville case from L&M.

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

I bought one like this for my Les Paul Special - it's from Rondo Music, and it was all of $65.

It is first rate.

Douglas EGC-300LP BRN - RondoMusic.com

I own cases made by Gator, TKL and Gibson, and this is as good as any of them.

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

Yeah well, Juniors will have a lot of wiggle room in a case made for a carved top. Usually calling for the need to lay the guitar on top a t-shirt or something to make up the difference, and don't have proper neck support due to casing a guitar that its not intended for.

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

Go for the tkl 8824,.I've heard of fitment issues with the 7824. I have the 8824 and it fits my junior really good. It's similar to the bja jr case without the frills. (tkl makes Gibsons cases btw)

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

The 7824 has a flat lid and one neck cradle, the 8824 has a slightly arched top and two neck cradles. Both are made for juniors and specials

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

Here comes my question again:
How much safety does having two neck supports offer?

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

I would think the guitar would be more secure with the two, but i did own a 7824 and never had any issues having only one support. It protected my special well. I've got my junior in an 8824 & I prefer it

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

It fits my special just fine...
It's a bent wood case and very well made.

I found the equivalent case at my local L&M, called the "Yorkville Deluxe Les Paul case". Have you noticed a lack of padding on the lid of the case? Specifically above the neck supports?

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

My '57 Custom Shop Jr. came with the exact same case as my R6 Goldtop. I fold up a hand towel and place it under the body to get the headstock where it needs to be.

Ditto for my '57 Junior. I have a heavy duty soft polishing cloth under the body of the guitar in the case.

Why couldn't Gibson commission a custom-sized case for their thinner bodied LP guitars? Too much like hard work...

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

I have my Jr Special in a gator case:

Seems to fit just fine without a towel under the body, but just has one neck support.

Actually, Gibson did make a thin body case. They were available at a few GCs.until they sold out. I used to have a link, but they finally sold out.
I was told once that i could order a Gibson thin line at any Gibson dealer, so maybe they have em in a warehouse somewhere. I'm surprised Gibson, or the other case manufactures, don't offer a matching spacer cushion for use with thin body less Pauls, that would open up the doors for more customers for their already manufactured less Paul cases...my idea I read it here first! Lol

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

Unburying this old thread. I'm trying to find a hard case for my Junior and coming up empty. I tried to find the TKLs referenced earlier in this thread, but it appears they don't make 'em anymore (or at least nobody stocks them). Any ideas?

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

Really??? Cuz I looked and couldn't find it. I did some extensive searching and the only place I could find that sells them is called AV Alive. I did some research on this company and found they have a bad track record for selling out of stock items, so I'm not sure how much I'd trust that listing. In any case, I cannot find the 8824 anywhere else. If you've seen it elsewhere, post a link and I'll take a look. Thx.

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

My mistake!

I queried amazon for tkl 8824 but the search returned an 8825, which I didn't notice the first time around. I'm not sure what the difference is between the 2.

Re: Les Paul Jr Case?

The 8824 is designed for slab guitars (like the LP Junior or Special). The 8825 is designed for arched top guitars (like the LP Standard or Custom). Other than that I believe they are the same case. I'm looking for the one that's designed for the slab body.
