First rehearsal with my newest LP.
Had my first rehearsal with my newly acquired 2011 Standard. Simply awesome. Especially when I tuned to drop D for a new song we wrote. I'd showed it to the band on an acoustic. When I started the riff for the first time, our female singer's jaw dropped. She hadn't realized how heavy the song was but she adapted & knocked it out of the park. I wasn't planning on using a Les Paul for that song but after last night, I'm reconsidering. It does everything I need & more. Couldn't be happier.

It's great to hear when someone else is super happy with his guitar. Thanks for sharing.

Re: First rehearsal with my newest LP.
We haven't devised a good way to record audio or video yet. I'm actually looking into that this weekend. I don't have any band pics with me playing a Les Paul but here are 2 of aforementioned female singer & me playing an acoustic guitar version of Fleetwood Mac's Songbird as well as me showing the band the new heavy song. I'll make sure someone gets some action photos of me with an LP next rehearsal.

Tommy,
Lefty Les Pauls are the dog's gonads. Far better than Banjocasters!!!

Re: First rehearsal with my newest LP.
Indeed. I actually once played in a band with another lefty guitarist. But, he played an Ibanez. Actually, the Ibanez was mine at first. He played an Epi LP. We traded & I've been a Les Paul guy ever since. I have 2 Epi LPs which haven't left their cases since I got my first Gibson LP last year. No comparison at all.

Re: First rehearsal with my newest LP.
I traded a 97 cherryburst Gibson LP Standard for my Vintage Sunburst Traditional Mahogany Satin. That particular Standard was heavy and I never really bonded with it. Love the Traditional Mahogany Satin, but am also very impressed with the Studio I got very recently. I am playing Les Pauls a lot more these days than I ever did in the past.

Re: First rehearsal with my newest LP.
I thought hard about trying a Traditional Mahogany and I probably would have if I hadn't found a practically brand new 11 Standard on eBay. I have a Cherryburst one that I love. So, when I found one in Ebony, I jumped on it & actually got it for several hundred less than a new Trad Mahogany. I know a lot of people shudder at the thought of a chambered LP, but I love it.I like the light weight of it & love the way it feels & sounds. I had a 70s Tribute Studio for 1 day before I sent it back. Didn't like it at all. It felt very foreign in my hands compared to the Standard.

Re: First rehearsal with my newest LP.
I'll take a lighter weight LP any day. More comfortable to play.

Re: First rehearsal with my newest LP.
In the early 90's, I had an Aria Pro II LP copy that weighed a ton. I wish I still had it so I could weigh it. I'd be surprised if it weighed less than14 or 15 lbs. If I hadn't been 19 or 20, that thing would have killed me. Haha. In my older age, I'll take a lighter guitar any day.
