Re: Slash signature picture thread

Here's a couple of pix I took of a guy actually using the Slash signature edition tobacco sunburst. Didn't catch his name, but I thought he did a pretty good job of getting the Slash tone, even though it was the weight relieved USA model.

He doesn't seem to put out by the squiggle on the headstock either!

Re: Slash signature picture thread

Hey just a quick question... Maybe i'm just too damn observant, but why is the bridge on the Slash Goldtop the pre-notched version, and the Slash Tobacco Burst the un-notched? The big "G" cutting corners again?

They've upgraded to a "Tonepros" bridge.

Re: Slash signature picture thread

imho, the slash sig. guitar would be more tolerable by me if "slash" was just written on the truss rod covers like on jomo's epi instead of the headstock with that doodle

looks like a Les Paul to me. Yeah it has some strange switches and a bigsby but the shape and scale look like one.

Um... the Les Paul was built for Les Paul under the Gibson brand name collaborated by and with Ted McCarty to compete with the Fender Telecaster wasn't it? It WAS a Les Paul signature model that was designated to be the new SG, and when Les Paul saw it, he refused to have his name on it?

The Stratocaster is a model name. If Leo Fender thought it would work he'd probably named the strat the "Carsoncaster" since Bill Carson was so instrumental in developing it along with Eddie Travares. Fender in this case is the brand, not the model name.

You both have missed my point. A signature (correct me if I'm wrong) is usually the same version (or close to it) as what the artist actually plays. Also, I didn't know the Les Paul was built for Les Paul, it was in fact that he helped build it and make it better. Les Paul is an innovator, not some guy that plays guitar that Gibson wanted to have on their payroll. His name is on the guitar for the reason that it's as much his design as it is Gibson's. Not because it's his signature guitar that he plays on stage.

Firstly, when's the last time you've seen Steve Vai play a stock signature JEM? Hell, he doesn't even play the 77 ones anymore. His own guitars are far from what you buy off the shelf. And was EVH's original frankenstrat guitar a Fender? No it wasn't.

And the other thing is, apparently (I think the jury is still out on this one), all Les Paul contributed to the design were the finishes, and the choice of bridges. That's it. It's supposed to be Ted McCarty's design from the start. All they did WAS slap his (Les Paul) name on the guitar and put him on the payroll. You really want an innovator? Look up Leo Fender.

Anyways, I think we're reading too much into this. I think we should just enjoy our guitars and visit chiropractors often. Heh.

As far as the price, keep in mind that's $1775 canadian. If you convert it to US dollars, it's $1504!!! For months now I've been plugging that shop for anyone looking to buy who actively asks "where should I buy?". And if you're in the US, you also don't pay tax.

Anyone kicking themselves now?

Very sick deal 2many! Congrats. Did you get it yet?

I think the Gibson Slash Snakepit Les Paul was made/released in 1996.

Amazing, took 12 years to get to the 2nd signature guitar (VOS & Tobbaco).
But only took 3 months to get to the 3rd sig (Gold Top).

And I heard there'll be another too, soon.

Ya...the next one will be the Antique Vintage Burst with Worn, which it's the only Slash sig I'm interested in, except the Snake Pit one of course....
