Re: NGD 94 Studio Project

Wow. You do nice work. Do you do finish work for customers? If not, you should! I've got a '94 Studio myself and it's probably one of the better LP's I've played. Wish I could get you to give it "natural back/sides" job. Beautiful job!

Thank you all for following this resto on this axe.

I wish I could press "Like" 20x for how excellent this guitar turned out!!!

I just saw this thread for the first time, so I saw the whole project in 5 minutes and all I can say is WOW!

You are definitely an artist! Thank you for sharing the progress!

Although, I now have gas for a black LP with natural "binding" and a natural back. IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT ! ! !

Well smorgmonkey gets a little blame too for introducing the recommendation!

Wow, just wow!

Re: NGD 94 Studio Project

That's a superior job! Love the faux binding and the natural back and sides.. Awesome to see it turned around after sitting on craigslist in sad shape forever.

Re: NGD 94 Studio Project

What's with the 4 next to the 9?

It should be 9(Part of the year) then the Julian date for example Jan. 01.. should be 001 or December 31 should 365.. So a 94 should be 90014 unless they dropped the two zeros and your guitar was build on the 4th day of Jan of 1992.

NM Found the answer.

Quote:
Those beginning with "94":
In 1994, Gibson's Centennial year, many instruments have a serial number that begins with "94" for the year, with the remaining 6 digits indicating the ranking number.

Re: NGD 94 Studio Project

Guys, I can not begin to tell you how happy and grateful I am that you like what I did! I wasn't sure how you would react with a new member posting this restore.

Just got back from GC and picked up a new SKB case with the TSA latches and lock on it for the axe. Man, that case is nice.

MeKevin, I was in your country in June. I spent a week in Kolin (Cologne). I love it there!!!!!!

Again, THANK YOU!

Re: NGD 94 Studio Project

Very nice work! In your pics, is it just the angle or have you left the neck un-glossed? Is it a satin smooth feel or am I imagining things?

It is sanded clear. The clear that I use, if you leave it sanded in 1000grit, your hand will glide on it like a chalked pool stick.
