Re: An Honest Question re Gibson quality/price
I don't know if I can admit it here but I gotta be honest that the Fender Telecaster Select with humbucker looks like an amazing guitar. And given that GC is advertising it at roughly $2100... if you could score that guitar for $1500-1600, it'd be a very nice guitar to have.
But given my tastes, I'd probably opt for the Jackson PC1. Heheh. |

If you're happy with your Gibson, that's great. Just don't think you've shown that there's any difference mail-ordering a Gibson against mail-ordering a Carvin. And don't pretend that there's any big difference in quality. They're both fine guitars, and UPS can break both of them equally easily. |

![]() As much as I like my Les Pauls, many had some minor issues from the factory. Things such a saddle popping up from the bridge causing string buzz and the note dying out on a B7. Or a wiring problem on a LPC making the neck pickup weak. No, I didn't send the guitars back but I can see where someone says this shouldn't be on a LP from the factory. And btw, this inconsistency has always. Been there at Gibson. I still like my LP's, not more than my Jacksons, but still like 'em ![]() Rudy |

All I knew, is that they were great guitars, and aside from a few QC issues, they still are.

If a Carvin is just as good as a LP, I take my hat off. This Gibson guitar is the best thing that happened to me ever (musically speaking). And although I haven't tested a Carvin, I don't doubt they could/are actually great guitars, since I have a Yamaha bass that kicks the ass of a Fender Precision (at least that's my perception). I guess after all this much talking, testing the instrument by YOURSELF (if possible) is the best route.
