Re: Trigger pulled on my first LP

Nice score! I really like the finish, wouldn't mind if Gibson offered it as a regular production Studio

Nice finish - hope you really enjoy it! And it's always an extra plus when you get a case with a liner that matches your socks

Re: Trigger pulled on my first LP

Thanks for all the kind words. Some really nice people on here. Very helpful.

A few new things I noticed, This thing plays like a dream, I mean where it makes you giddy. Although I am a "les paul newb", Ive played off and on for years (about 20? More off). But I've never owned a Gibson or even a a guitar with a TOM bridge. Ive always had Fender or Dean (FR).

I restrung with Slinky cobalt 9s (laugh if you want, they are great strings), I cleaned everything, took it all apart, oiled and buffed the neck & fretboard with Ducks Axe Wax. I did a basic setup that worked for me, but I might just pay GC $50 to do a proper setup to spec? I don't have proper measurement tools for things like string height, pickups, stopbar hieght. Hmm, what else...

Oh, I found a tiny ding at the bottom, but it shows that the new finish is THIN. Whatever that means. I can feel the parts where the neck still has the finish (very top & bottom as seen in the pics) And it is far better to have it naked, SOOOO smooth and glideable (is that a word?) He Took off that clearcoat finish beautifully. and taped off nice lines as you can see below the stinger (basically made a double stinger) and by the heel (whatever its called where the neck meets the body)

I do realize the value aspect, and I knew that beforehand. I didn't buy this with resale value in mind, at all. So this will be my guitar that I can mod or set afire or love and grow old with.

That is a very classy looking Studio. Hope you get many years of enjoyment out of it.

Re: Trigger pulled on my first LP

That Studio is GORGEOUS!

Black and Silver are my favorite colors.

Since the value's out of it anyway, when you get your second one, pop a third pup into this one.
