Should I Pull The Trigger ?
Hey ! As some of you probably already know I am new here
...and I already have a question...So..I have been playing for 4 years. I own an Epiphone Les Paul Custom which I absolutely love. It is a great sounding and great looking axe. It was upgraded with Seymour Duncans Jazz and JB and 50s wiring. However, I have an opportunity to buy a Gibson Classic Custom... I am torn... On one side I would of course like to own a Gibson (it will be my first one if I decide to buy it) and on the other side, I really like my Epi and do not know if there is an actual need in buying another guitar or it is just me having GAS. Also I have a weird feeling that I am not "good" enough for it lol. Well...HELP ME DECIDE ! Should I pull the trigger ??? Cheers

Do it now. And in a manly fashion. 10,000 of us can't be wrong.

Re: Should I Pull The Trigger ?
What is this "not good enough" to own a brand of guitar? If you can afford it and you want it then you're good enough

Re: Should I Pull The Trigger ?
It's easy finding guitars but hard to find ones that you love. I'd keep the eppy and save up for another guitar/Gibson LP.

Re: Should I Pull The Trigger ?
.....hang on, did you mention whether or not you'd keep the Epi even if you bought it...?
*scrolls back up* No you didn't! I'm assuming you're gonna keep it anyway? OBX is right, if you're going to sell the Epi, make sure it's for something you can love just as much - play it first and see if it speaks to you...

Re: Should I Pull The Trigger ?
Do it! Get the Gibson...
I just did it and would have it no other way. I love it! If you can keep the Epi, great, but if not, you'll be even happier with the Gibson.

Re: Should I Pull The Trigger ?
In my experience there is very little sonic difference between a Gibson and and a good Epi with upgraded pick ups. But sound is a very subjective thing so to you it might be a step up.
Having said that, I think you should buy. If you get one secondhand at a good price, you can always sell again without much of a loss. Isn´t GAS a wonderful disease ? And hey WELCOME to the forum !!! |

Re: Should I Pull The Trigger ?
if you think you are 'not worthy,' then remind yourself that while a better guitar doesn't make you a better player, it makes you want to practise more. Which in turn is how to become a better player.
That's what I tell myself anyway ![]() +1 on getting a used standard like the guy above said. But that's cause I love standards

Re: Should I Pull The Trigger ?
I picked up a 73 Gold Top Deluxe.
$1200.00.....and it definitely makes me want to practice more. The more I play the better it sounds. My other guitars do not sound like this Les Paul!

Re: Should I Pull The Trigger ?
Worthy? That's good for any level player: the right time to buy a Les Paul is now!
You've tried it, you like it, it makes you smile, buy it. As simple as that. You have a few already? I don't give a f*ck. Buy it. You have a wife? Oh shit! Train her. Hypnotize her. Buy her flowers. Hide the guitar(s). Tell her you bought a special guitar that changes color from time to time. |

Re: Should I Pull The Trigger ?
Resistance is futile, the GAS virus has entered your bloodstream and you will soon be the proud owner of a Gibson Les Paul one way or another...................common sense has no part in this.
.....enjoy!

Re: Should I Pull The Trigger ?
Btw just to make sure cuz I've heard different people say different things. Is Classic Custom run limited?
Also I think I will try these ones out ! http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Elec...ssic-Plus.aspx Last edited by EpiPenguin; 06-13-2012 at 09:56 AM. |
