What it actually does it wear grooves in the frets, which is a good thing.

In fact, I reccomend you take a file to your squire and make some grooves in the frets under each string. This is really what people talk about when they say "scalloped" frets.

Seriously man, try it on your squire and then maybe you can nail those Petrucci solos.
