Best bang for the buck going. I have a goldtop and a Honeyburst, Splendid guitars.
Buy one this weekend at MF and get 15% off. You will not find a better guitar for $721 to your door. |

Re: Is the Gibson Les Paul Studio 50's tribute with humbuckers a good guitar
I love mine. It has a good building quality, sounds really great and it plays very easy. I've tested a '05 Standard, an '08 Standard and a Traditional several days before i bought the '50 Tribute. And I think ist he best bang for the buck, like lucky said. my only Problem is the finish, it's really very sensible for dings and dongs but this Guitar sounds really great and is a really Player so I won't never sell it, so forget about the dings and dongs. ;-)

Re: Is the Gibson Les Paul Studio 50's tribute with humbuckers a good guitar
I have one a GT, it is brilliant. Also have an 07 standard and a R8 and some MIJs but the gold top is the one I play most. Great for rock, indi, punk etc and fantastic value though I did send the first one back due to the fret ends being quite rough. I even realy like the burnt maple board, I know its been a bit contraversial but I think it looks and feels good

Try to find a second hand one with natural wood back finish and rosewood fingerboard.
I had one before in Gold top. I swapped the PU for SD APH1 and it sounded great... in between regular les paul sound and ES335 (because of chambering). light and sustainfull guitar.

Re: Is the Gibson Les Paul Studio 50's tribute with humbuckers a good guitar
Mine is simply the best guitar I've ever owned. The more I play it, the more I want to play. The tonal range of the 490R & 498T pickups just amazes me. I'd highly recommend one to anyone that asks.
The only downside is that it comes with a padded gig bag. Spend a little more and get a hard-shell case for it. You won't regret it.

Re: Is the Gibson Les Paul Studio 50's tribute with humbuckers a good guitar
I've had my Goldtop 50's Tribute w/ Humbuckers for a little over a month now - wonderful guitar, plays great and sounds great - exactly what I was hoping for.

I would keep my Trad Pro. and get the guitar with the top and color of bobbins that you want for your #1.

Re: Is the Gibson Les Paul Studio 50's tribute with humbuckers a good guitar
Had a 60's tribute in honey burst satin, lefty. To get anything lefty in a color other than cherry heritage, black or 3 color sun burst is rare. I sold it not because it had P 90s or a mismatched 3 piece back or it was chambered but because Gibson now has a Standard premium plus in 7 different flavors with triple A top, split coil personality and locking tuners and weight relief. Fantastic!

Re: Is the Gibson Les Paul Studio 50's tribute with humbuckers a good guitar
I visited my Uncle in Tampa and we passed by Sam-Ash , I swa the guitar and tried and then my dad and my uncle told me I should get it because they said "It was as if it was mine" . So yes , I do say it is a good guitar .
