White custom, single P90, no toggle...beautiful

Not sure if I am breaking any ebay or forum rules here, but simply had to share this achingly cool white custom currently on the 'bay - according to the seller a very, very special custom which doesn't even have a proper serial number.

If this were not stateside, I would be seriously outbidding the other 30 who already want this guitar.

Anyone have one of these in the UK? If so I really want one!

I love it. But I find it highly questionable that when manufacturers make one-pickup guitars, they put the pickup near the bridge. I think it should be put in the center or even near the neck. But at least in the center.

That's a gorgeously simple guitar.

V good point - hadn't thought of that - yes, they should put it in the middle, shouldn't they. But hey, come on, still a bloody fabulous git.

Re: White custom, single P90, no toggle...beautiful

Seen loads of them in black, such as this one (one of two that guitar village have desperately been trying to shift for a good ten months now):Gibson:Les Paul Ltd Ed Custom 1 P-90 (HB201C) #CS001813, Antique Ebony, New (Ex V Festival), Inc. Case & COA, Gibson Les Paul, Solids product details : Guitar Village UK | Guitar Village UK
but I've never seen one in white before.

Cool looking guitar, but I spent 90% of my time on the neck pickup, so it wouldn't be much good to me...

Re: White custom, single P90, no toggle...beautiful

I've always wanted a white les paul custom with p90's. If I was to buy this, I'd probably route it out for a p90 in the neck, add the toggle switch and missing controls. Lastly, install a pickguard and change all plastics (including the p90 covers) to match the body colour.

I imagine a lot of people would freak out if they thought of someone doing this.

In that case, the three pickup ones must invoke memories of total recall.

Mate, surely you should just buy a white custom and swap the pickups!

Can't you just use humbucker sized P-90s.

No. This exact guitar is one I have been dreaming of owning for many years. It's one of my "bucket list" guitars. The look is important with this one. Will definitely have to go down the custom order route to obtain it.

The pup placement makes it more suited to good crunchy rhythms and most guys use the bridge position for leads, anyway. To somebody like me, center position kills my pick hand (and not sound right) and the neck position wouldn't cut properly. Imagine "Mississippi Queen" through a neck pup.

No sir; I don't like it.

Well, it has a tone control so you can always dial back the treble. If you stick it near the neck-well that is all the treble you will have. I tend to dial my amps into the neck pup and then adjust the bridge tone to taste. Though I spend 80% of my time on the bridge pup anyway. That said, 1 pup guitars are just too close to variax looking for me. Just missing something for me. Like a chick with a great a$$ and no b00bs.

Funnily enough I'm just about to look at a Variax - but the discontinued acoustic one. Useful for a covers band with one guitarist!

Wonder why Line 6 discontinued them?
