Re: Gibson USA factory tour

I wonder how many of the Gibson employees play guitar? I wonder how much of a discount they get if they buy one.

I really like watching how they make the guitars. It's so amazing to take some wood and make it into such a piece of art.

Re: Gibson USA factory tour

They do tours at the Nashville and Memphis facilities. I'm gonna check out the Nashville shop next time I'm down in TN to visit family. Video was cool, but going in person you can take it all in....including the smells....mmmm.....fresh Gibson!

I hadn't seen that one (there was a different one on the travel channel a year or so ago). What a great gig it would be to work at the factory.

Re: Gibson USA factory tour

just got home from TN... they stopped doing the tours out of the nashville factory, you need to have it approved by the plant manager, so we drove down to memphis. The tour there was great!!!! They make all the semi hollow, double neck sg's, and the alpine white custom LP, if you go try to go before 2..... the luthiers finish work at 2:30.....

So they've stopped the Nashville Tours, as some guy a few posts back said. That sucks, I would love to go to nashville one day and go on the tour.

I'm gonna be in nashville for a couple of days at the end of the week. Any idea how to get a nashville tour approved by the plant manager? I'd really like to take a tour.

Re: Gibson USA factory tour

Excellent Link - there has just been a documentary on BBC TV "the history of the electric guitar" it was fantastic interviews with all the major players including Les Paul in the early days and Les Paul now, Slash, Dave Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, Pete Townsend and many more if you get the chance see if you can check it out.

Les Paul studios are pretty inferior when compared to the true USA les pauls. ie: Standard, Custom. Probably not much difference to the Epiphones.
