2006 Les Paul standard info?

I've found a 2006 Standard used at a GC. They are asking $1400. The guy on the phone (it's way too far to drive) said it was in great shape, but GC only rated the condition 4/5.

A 2006 would be an 02 spec, right? It does have a 50's neck with green tip tuners. GC believes the pickups are original, but are not sure. There wasn't anything odd going on with 2006 Les Paul's were there?

Sound like a deal?

Have you checked all of GC's online ads? They show what the whole US has and will ship one in to you if you find what you like. If you get it and it's beat to death they will take it back if you make that clear beforehand.

I purchased 2 guitars on eBay (these will be the last 2 I will ever buy without trying them first). A Les Paul Custom and a Standard. Both guitars were mde in 2006. The white Custom came in and the first thing I noticed was a nickle sized hump on the back of the neck, kind of on the side by the binding at the 3rd fret. It was like they were running short on time and just stopped shaping and sanding it. Wow..total crap...

The Standard came in with the biggest shoulders on ny neck I have ever seen. I like a thick neck but this had wood comming out past the binding. Again like they just didn't have time to finish the job. I came with a crocked insert on the tail piece as well.

I talked with my friend who worked at GC until 2009 and he said Gibson never admits to anything...ever! But they recognized that they had issues with some models in 2006.

This is just my experience and my buddy could be full of crap but from what I've seen I will avoid that year from now on. Again, just one mans experience.

I did. I've been looking through their used site. I really don't want to buy a guitar over the net, but GC's return policy makes it less painful. The particular one I was looking at was a 2006 Standard in wine red with a nice top. Like I said though, it sold either yesterday or today.

Anyway, the wife said when we were in DC for Memorial Day I could look for one. The used selection here is slim, even when expanded to Pittsburgh which is over an hour away. Hopefully, the DC/NOVA area will be more fruitful.
