NGD: LP Studio Worn Brown

Hi - new here. My first LP and first American made guitar. Absolutely love it! The tones out of this thing are amazing! Proud to be an LP owner and inspired to play! Bought it from sweetwater - great people to deal with.

Re: NGD: LP Studio Worn Brown

I played a couple of those and they are excellent guitars. I was seriously looking to buy one but ended up getting a Traditional Goldtop. I would still love to pick up one of those Worn Brown Studios though. I love the neck on them. The couple I played sounded excellent and were extremely comfortable to play.

You are right about Sweetwater. They are a great company and you got yourself a gorgeous LP. Congratulations!

Yep - I have taken some pics but they pale in comparison. These pics are the closest to doing the finish the justice it deserves.

Re: NGD: LP Studio Worn Brown

Nice! Enjoy the Faded look! I know I do.
Is that a maple cap or full mahagony body? Also what's the year on that axe?
I think they don'T make the "Les Paul Studio Faded" anymore (since febr.?) You can only get the Studio Pro faded, and of coure the others 50s-60s trib. humbucker etc.

Maple Cap. Appears to be a one-piece Mahogany back as I can see no lines on the back at all - only grain. Year is 2012 stamped on the back of the headstock. Right - SW describes this one as Worn. They also offer it in Cherry (for which I've seen posts here on MLPF), Blue, and Black. My personal choice was this Brown and this particular guitar was stunning as compared to the other 6 they had in stock at the time. I got lucky. The fit and finish are top-notch and it plays as good or better than it looks. I'm truly inspired every time I pick it up. Heck, every time I look at it .

Re: NGD: LP Studio Worn Brown

When the Faded LPs first came out, I tried a few and was not terribly impressed. The ones I played sounded somewhat flat to my ear. I tend to like brighter Les Pauls, and the mahogany/rosewood Fadeds just did not do much for me.

I've had a chance to play a few examples of the new Faded line with the baked maple fretboard and maple cap, and the ones I've tried have sounded absolutely excellent. The extra maple seems to have brought more life to the sound, at least to my ear. The tops look great as well.

Congrats on the new guitar!

Thats a lovely top on that.

I love my studio faded, they're great guitars.

Mines even starting to get a bit of wear in places now which makes it look even better IMO

Congrats on having one that fits your bill.

I've been around for a long while now, and that model is my absolute favorite, when it comes to my complete satisfaction.

Some folks like a shiny finish, others like their binding and gold appointments.

I'll take one of these first, most any time.

I was back trying out guitars at GC last month and picked one up and it was by and far the most comfortable LP neck I ever felt.

For me the neck is very comfortable as well, but it does take some getting used to as it is somewhat fat.

It is a depature from by SMBB Silo30 neck that's for sure. But with large hands the LP sure does feel great. Nice to have some more neck to dig in with - I didn't realize how much I was going to like it! This thing is perfect! I played it for almost 2 hours tonight and what a blast! Oh, and I took off the pick guard - looks MUCH better that way. More nice wood grain to gaze at!

Thanks for all of the kind words. Nice board here.

The Worn Brown Studio is one of my favorites from the Gibson USA line.
I got mine about a year ago(maple cap & rosewood board) and have been in love ever since.

They are definitely comfortable to play, and the BBPro's have a very large range of tones you can get from them. I love the faded satin finish, no fingerprints to have to clean off all the time.

Congrats HNGD!

Man, that is a super beautiful guitar. Wow, that's one of the best looking guitars I've ever seen.

And it's a Gibson.

You have the right guitar now.

Now play. And learn to write your own stuff. Have confidence in it.
