Eddie, I see you researched, and found that you need do the nickel-plating with Jefferson facing toward the wood.
But, we can't tell. Did you use a proper vintage nickel? (I wonder how far people have gotten into this thread, before they stopped thinking we're crazy, and started to chuckle at the joke.... then kept reading and started to think their first opinion was probably correct!) |

I found that if you use pure synthetic fret and string lube, you get a brighter tone, as the synthetic oil allows for less oxidation of the metal parts.
Not only that, you can play faster due to the much improved friction coefficient vs old dyno oils.
