Hi guys!!! i´m really hate to post this thread but is the only way i have to know the opinion from those who actually have play gibson...

Re: help from Paraguay south-america (Gibson Studio 50 Tribute)

I don't know what the guy above me said, but most are good guitars. But, and I may get some shit for this, it is hit and miss with Gibson sometimes. The only Gibson I ordered without seeing and playing before buying, went back because it sucked real bad. I think most guys here have had real good luck with ordering though. Just make sure that whoever you order it through has a solid return policy. I think that the cost of shipping one back would suck for you though? If you do order, I hope you get a good one!

Re: help from Paraguay south-america (Gibson Studio 50 Tribute)

I own a 50's tribute GT from the first run (P90's) and a 50's tribute GT with humbuckers from the first run (Thomann Dealer Exclusive). They were both good guitars from the factory/dealer. Good players with level frets. The fret ends while by no means bad were not finished to the same standards as a USA PRS but then these guitars cost the same as many Korean PRS's. The P90 guitar even has a 1pce back (the earlier ones are not Dark Backs) and the HB 2pce centre joined.
They have made some changes to these guitars since these first runs in 2010/11 with dark backs and non rosewood boards but they are as popular as ever.

+1 even with a good model you can get a dud, but the tributes I've played were pretty nice

I have a 50's Tribute with Humbuckers, BM fretboard, Gold Top and dark back. I love the guitar. The fretwork and quality I would rate at very good. There are no sharp fret ends, nor buzzing nor any other issues. The tone and feel of this guitar is outstanding. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong.

Re: help from Paraguay south-america (Gibson Studio 50 Tribute)

I guess you're aware that the 50' has a chunkier neck than a 60's. The 60's has a fast slim neck. A friend of mine just bought a 60's with P90's and he could not be happier!
He says the guitar really rocks!

Re: help from Paraguay south-america (Gibson Studio 50 Tribute)

There are no inherent problems associated with this guitar. Most everyone really enjoys them. I have a goldtop 60s tribute, and love it. Manufacturing and frets are very good.

I guess you know these come with a really weak finish on them to simulate the aging. don't expect a glossy shine or even a durable paint job.

Very nice! The fretboard sure is dark

Re: help from Paraguay south-america (Gibson Studio 50 Tribute)

i have 2 tribs from the 1st 2010 run ,im happy w/ both.they both benefitted from some minor setup work by my local tech, gibson does a generic setup at best. once you personalize it to your liking they are great guitars @ a reasonable price. get it you'll love it.

Re: help from Paraguay south-america (Gibson Studio 50 Tribute)

I have 2 50's Tributes w/P90's

I had 3 Tributes.............1 Ebony and 2 GoldTops

I bought 1 of the GoldTops from Guitar Center via internet.......it was a dud..............junk............5 piece back and no life...........dead.

I didn't want to deal with it and sold to a guy locally who loved it....

Anyway there are duds out there ......maybe buy from a reputable dealer with a return policy?

Re: help from Paraguay south-america (Gibson Studio 50 Tribute)

I would have a look into what Tributes are available at WildWood.
With them, you have the trust that what you will be getting is a certainty.
Have a look at their site and view the details on each guitar, and then an email with your
interest and ask them what they think about GuitarXx. Vs GuitarYy.

The only way I would buy.

I fully agree with Wolfcom. Use WildWood.
Pity we do not have WildWood here in Europe, just have to rely on Thomann to get the 5O's Tribute's with humbuckers. So we just order here without knowing how the guitar will exactly look like... Kind of a lottery. But I am very happy with mine, a 2011 2nd run Honeyburst with dark back and baked maple. Has quite a funny look, a mix of Honeyburst and Cherryburst. And plays and sounds great !

Re: help from Paraguay south-america (Gibson Studio 50 Tribute)

I have one of these, in a Honeyburst finish. You can see some crappy cellphone pics of her here. The only change I made is a custom truss rod cover.

In short, she's the best guitar I've ever owned, even better than my old Ric-12 which was half again as much as they're asking for the '50s Tribute.

Like all new guitars, it needed a setup. After that, it's been smooth sailin'. The tonal range of the 490R & 498T pickups just amazes me. It's going to be hard for me to find another electric that suits me so well. It's like the '50s neck was made just for me.

Good luck with yours!

EDIT: Oh, and Schaller strap locks. Forgot about that change.

Re: help from Paraguay south-america (Gibson Studio 50 Tribute)

hello i'm from Peru.
I wouldn't recomend you to buy online like someone else said Gibson's are hit or miss this days specialy with budget models a la tribute. If you still want that model try to buy it from a dealer and not from a big store.

if i were you i will try the guitar before buying it saying that i will try to score an old studio.

Re: help from Paraguay south-america (Gibson Studio 50 Tribute)

i have one of the first run 50s trib with p90s.

its a great guitar. the only problem i had was the nut slots not being well cut and so had to have a bit of a file from a tech - other than that i cant fault it.

i also changed the plastics to black to make it look better!
