Brought home a 2012 Standard Plus
Picked mine up yesterday at the local GC. Haven't been in a store in ages. Bought my other two guitars online. Walked around and didn't see much of any higher-end Gibson's. The place was pretty busy with people looking and playing in the isles. Wandered over to the Platinum room and found what I was looking for. Actually, I didn't see it at first because they're labeling them Standard Premium Plus. Had to ask the sales guy who came into the room a while later. It was funny how no one was in the Platinum room but me. I was able to check out the Trad Plus as well as the '08 Standard. Like others have said, the '12 falls between the two. I didn't realize the '08's were so light though.
They had a Trans Amber which was really nice but I had my heart set on a HCSB. I asked the sales guy and he said they had one other in the back but he would have to check what color it was. He came back with a case and opened it up. (unboxed it and brought it over) HCSB!  It looked really nice. I love how the flames pop. I also noticed that the upper flames fade in and out depending on the angle. Looks cool. Haggled a little and made the deal. Got it home and played it for a few hours. No issues what so ever. It looks and plays great.In the case was the pick guard and an allen wrench. Also, included was a set of strings, pick, keychain and sticker.

I noticed that yours really has the 3-D like affect where from some angles the whole top flame "pops", and other angles it's certain sides of the top that do.
Think this is what you meant by the upper flames fading in and out depending on the angle. Pretty cool looking!
