Slash Alnico II pro pickups
Looking at getting set of these. Now would there be any difference in buying the Bridge and Neck together as in set ( are they matched?)
Or fine to buy bridge, get familiar with that and the get it's partner. Some might saw buy both as it will be cheaper I the long run especially once you install the second . This will be on a Tribute 60'deluxe. Thansk |

Re: Slash Alnico II pro pickups
I would say to buy the set. Often they are marginally cheaper, plus any postage will be about half overall.
I've also seen equal amounts of people who are happy with both or with only one of the two depending on the tone of their particular guitar. |

Re: Slash Alnico II pro pickups
I have the set.
I love the neck but the bridge is a hard pickup to get used to. Lots of treble, lots of high mids with a notch in the lower midrange. I eventually wound up going with vintage wiring and adding covers to my Slash set....now I love em. You really have to play with the pickup height on these pickups and if you have a bright sounding Les Paul don't go near them. |

I have the set too, and love them. I don't think it matters if you buy them as a set or one at a time. eBay has them listed for about $90 each or $180 a set.

Re: Slash Alnico II pro pickups
you'll dig it--I had a set on my Epi AFD, the clean tones are just sparkling, overdrive kicks ass--it's one of my Fave pups next to the Duncan '59/bridge in my Epi Elitist GT

Re: Slash Alnico II pro pickups
I have an early 90's alnico proII in the neck and a 2011 slash job in the bridge.
I've got the neck one wired with a variable coil tap. With the tap wound to single coil and the volume turned down i get the most wonderful sparkling clean tones, a quick flick of the toggle to the bridge and i'm back in rock mode. Great pickups. Leroy

Re: Slash Alnico II pro pickups
Great Pick ups, I have them on one of two les pauls. The other's are the Alnico II pro. The Slash series have slightly higher Mids. You will be very happy with them.

Re: Slash Alnico II pro pickups
Had the bridge in my R9 - was too bright for my taste. Should you decide to install it do it as a set - this way it's more balanced between bridge and neck. There was a huge tonal difference between BB1 in the neck and Slash in the bridge in my case.

Re: Slash Alnico II pro pickups
i have the old AP2's in my classic and I love the tones you can get by experimenting with the guitar controls, great with them being low output. tried the slash sig's and was equally impressed, biggest difference i noticed was the bridge on the new ones was abit more hotter!

Re: Slash Alnico II pro pickups
I have them in three of my four Les Pauls. I have been very pleased. They are bright, but I was able to dial that out with my amp.
