Gratuitous Les Paul And Other Gear Porn (Pic Heavy)

Since it was a nice day out today I decided to take my guitars out to the back porch so that I could take some new pictures and figured I would post them here since we all love guitar porn, especially Les Paul porn.























I also took pictures of my AC15:





And my Strat:

















I tried to take a group shot but didn't realize until I downloaded the pictures onto my computer how badly the sunlight had been reflecting off of the body of my Les Paul. If I had realized at the time I would have put my Strat on the left side for the group shot. Oh well, that fail just gives me an excuse to take more pictures at another time. My Epi is at a friend's place so it wasn't included in the field trip to the back porch.

Depending on the angle and the way the light hits it the top on the LP can look quite a bit more brown that that but with the sunlight today it was looking lighter. I like that you can still see some grain beneath the flame and I also like the chevron type look that the flame has.

Wow, you're pretty handy with a camera and that top is really something else! I've tried to catch the flame in my guitars and I've never come close to getting anything like that, much less so subtle a pattern. My hat is off to you, sir!

+1 on the Tele. That Strat will make a fine pet for your guitar family, at least until they have a bouncing baby -335.

Thanks. My photos usually aren't that great and can be a bit grainy but I read through the manual for my camera and changed settings before taking those pictures so they came out better than they usually would for me.

It is a MIM so it is Arctic.

I have an american standard in ebony w/maple board that I bought new about 12 years ago that I'll never part with. I think it's changed some since then though.

They both sound great through the AC15. I've been playing almost exclusively through the top boost channel and was thinking last night that I need to spend some time with the normal channel. I had planned to start doing that last night but fell asleep on the couch so didn't end up playing at all. I'll start messing around with the normal channel tonight.

Which Strat is this one?

It is a MIM Standard that I picked up just over a month ago.

It is a MIM so it is actually Arctic white. I think they look very similar but that mine won't age in the same way as an Olympic White one will.

It is just a normal AC15 internally but they dressed it up in blue tolex and different grill cloth to mimick how the AC30s and some AC15s looked in 1963. These are a limited edition run of 650 worldwide. Canada's largest gear retailer, from which I bought mine, only got four of them so we figure there are like a dozen in the country when all retailers are combined. Mine was the first ordered and first delivered.

It is a Honey Burst. As I have said earlier in the thread, it sometimes looks too yellow (which explains why some people think it is amber or lemon). But at other times, as seen in the older photo below (taken before I did some mods), it looks much more brown.

In this photo I think it looks quite like JMB1984's gorgeous new 2012 Standard (check out the first picture in his NGD thread to see what I mean):

Thanks, I definitely prefer the more vintage look it has now to the modern look it had originally.

As mentioned, I really like how both guitars are on the top boost channel and expect I will like the normal channel just as much even though that channel takes the tone controls out of the loop. As soon as I finish watching the news and responding to a couple of emails I've been neglecting I will be plugging in to the normal channel for a little while. I think both guitars will pair well with it in their own way.
