If you had 2200.00 what les paul would you buy?

I play mostly classic rock and older 80's and 90's metal (Boston, Led Zep, Ozzy, Metallica, Creed, Skynyrd, Kansas etc) I've read the post Les Paul 101, and the "before you buy your first Les Paul" thread.
I also in the past month bought and read "Beauty of the burst" and "Million Dollar Les Paul" , great books by the way.
I was looking at buying a Traditional as I dont want a chambered guitar, but I'm open to suggestions.
Also, I was looking for advice on a Dealer in or around Eastern Massachusetts, or even Rhode Island, or New Hampshire. I'd like to support the forum sponsors, so I'd appreciate any feedback on any sponsors in my area. I'm open to Sweetwater and MF as well. any help would be great.

A used Historic that has a Solid body and real Rosewood or Ebony fretboard that will hold it's value compared to the other crap Gibson is pumping out nowdays.

Check out the Classic Customs. You'll have money left over for speakers or some badass tubes!

Look at the Gibson ES-339s. Nice guitars.
That's in your price range.

Lots of options in the used market for 2200 and less. Theres a real nice Trad listed on my local craigslist for $1600. I see lots of Standards and Customs priced in his range as well.

+100 There are always R6's, R7's, and R8's in that price range. And they will pretty much hold there value at what you paid for it.

For $400 more, you're into 2012 Les Paul Standard territory. Some of the tops on these have been amazing.

Possibly. Depends upon demand. They are priced at $2600.
It could be close. 15% off would be about $2210.

Re: If you had 2200.00 what les paul would you buy?

Thanks for the responses so far! I'm actually considering the 2012 standard, can get it for right around 2215.00 with 15% off code this weekend. I wasnt realy looking for chambered body but the tone pros and locking tuners and push pull pots sound pretty good to me. The classic custom sounds good too....and the used r8 or custom.....

I have a new 2011 Trad plus that would leave you with $500 left over to buy another guitar or amp! Used is the way to go.....

Re: If you had 2200.00 what les paul would you buy?

what kind of amp do you have...seems silly but it has a point.

if you have a good solid tube amp that sounds great blow your wad then man!
Used R7 or regular Custom can be had for $2200 alllllll day and would be damn fine.

if your amp is crap budget for an amp and a lower end lester. Search for deals.
figure $500 would get you a decent amp like an Egnater or AC15 or Haze...something on that order. Gives you $1700 to lay down on a used standard or even a Deluxe or Classic. Hell theres a SOLID 3pup 74 Custom with a headstock repair going for under this price in the classys right now that would be a stellar rig...also a Standard Faded in this ballpark.

but for real if you are crankin on a line 6 spider that lester may as well be an agile (no dis intended to the agile crew) and you may want to address your tone quality with both pieces otherwise it may no be worth plunking down $2200 on a guitar to take it home and find out it sounds no different than any othe well set up humbucker guitar.

food for thought...good luck

I'd get the '10 Traditional that was (maybe still is) on consignment in the local mom and pop for $1,800. Pristine condition, playably a dead ringer for my '92. It should be mine, but I don't need twins. They told me the seller would likely take $1,500.
