New to the MLP Forum

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum. I've got a 2004 LP standard that I purchased from Guitar Center. As alot of you have probaly experienced, the setup was horrible. I have dialed it in pretty good except for the saddles were never notched. Does anyone else play with unnotched saddles. Some have said that you can notch them with a set of nut files but that doesn't seem to be the right tool. Has anyone cut there own?

Re: New to the MLP Forum

Welcome man. I haven't filed my nuts (I think that would hurt)
But I have seen it done. Piece of cake with the right files.

Re: New to the MLP Forum

Welcome!

While Im big on the DIY...I cant say Ive ever had to tackle this problem. I know some guys use emory board to tune-up a nut.

*ediT* quick GooGle search showed that nut files are to be used if your starting with a blank...which is what you have basically. They say theyre spendy and its not an easy task. But do-able

Re: New to the MLP Forum

Thanks for the vid. I didn't think the nut files would work. I have the grooves worn in from the years but they are shallow. Maybe I should seek a luthiers help.
