Anyone have a cross or emblem etched on your guitar?
I saw another Christian artist with a cross etched on his LP. I'd like to do something simmilar. In the front body and a Bible verse on the back. Anyone here done something like this?

I have a cross carved into the top on my dean bass. No pics here, but maybe when I get home.
Edit: pic added. ![]() I found a design I liked, traced it onto the top, then carved it with the Dremel.

I am not looking to carve anything, but am looking for a Christian themed decal for my Samick. I just haven't found anything that I like yet.

Just looking to do a simple cross. Love this LP. Has some serious tonal mojo. Love the invader too.

Is your guitar worth anything? I would suggest you don't do it. Decals can be removed, Tattoos are permanent

Re: Anyone have a cross or emblem etched on your guitar?
As one of the worship leaders at my church (a Vineyard), I can say (and I'm sure this isn't news...) that the Lord doesn't care what's on your guitar as much as He cares what's in people's hearts. Tatoos are certainly permanent, but the cross hasn't gone out of style in about 2,000 yrs now, so I think you're safe there.
If you want to carve a cross into your guitar, then I say "why the hell not?" You might practice on some other piece of wood first.

No etching into any of my guitars, but I do have a mother of pearl swooping dove (ala Holy Spirit) on the truss rod cover of my Taylor acoustic.

Re: Anyone have a cross or emblem etched on your guitar?
I wrote a song called "The Cross" and play it on my guitar, but I don't think I would do a very good job carving.
It's in the link under my sig if you want to hear it. |

Re: Anyone have a cross or emblem etched on your guitar?
I don't put bumper stickers on my car, and I don't have tattoos.
No "signatures" on forum posts, either. I don't feel the need to put similar on my guitars. I did once see what looked like an image of someone on a piece of toast, but I never felt the need to scarify my toast just to be cool. |

Re: Anyone have a cross or emblem etched on your guitar?
I think it'd look pretty cool if done well, if you don't feel comfortable doing it you could always take it to a luthier or somewhere. Just don't carve "HI" down the side/front of it like half the cellos at school.

Not only can they work up a decal for your Samick custom done to your specs, but they can do something that will cover the entire front of your guitar. In fact, you can make it LOOK as if you've carved a cross, or a bible verse or whatever into your guitar, but it's just a piece of transit vinyl that will last a LONG time (years, in some cases) on your guitar and then can be simply removed if you decide you want something else on the guitar or want to sell it as originally built. This, for example, is a decal that covers the whole front of the guitar body (not the pickguard). The body is NOT reliced.

Re: Anyone have a cross or emblem etched on your guitar?
Not my thing--something tasteful & simple would be best if that's what you want--there's some tacky stuff up there though.
But its not my thing to etch a cross or anything on my guitars--and I am a Christian.

Re: Anyone have a cross or emblem etched on your guitar?
I say you shouldn't because:
A - Your guitar is very cool looking to start with. B - Iommi has already done it and is know for it. C - It will most likely look "tacky". D - It could damage your nitro and ruin resale value. E - Some people who believe in other religions may be offended.
