Trad and Trad Pro sound
Hello, I just brought home a Traditional Pro (with P-90's) and have been comparing it with my Traditional that I've had for about a year. Both guitars sound great but sound very different unplugged. The trad had a thicker sound with more low frequencies. I expected them to sound different but not this much.
They both are made the same way (both swiss cheese) and from the same materials. It seems strange to me that they're so different unplugged. Plugged in the trad pro is much more aggressive sounding than the trad. P-90's combined with the "thinner" acoustic sound I guess. The difference plugged in was expected though. I'm assuming the difference in acoustic sound is just in the properties of the wood of a different tree? |

Re: Trad and Trad Pro sound
I havent weighed them by themselves, but I got on a scale holding each guitar and they were less than a pound different. I expected the trad to be heavier but if it is, it doesn't seem to be much.

Re: Trad and Trad Pro sound
Well, they both sound great on their own, but I like the trad better. The pro sounded good enough at the store for me to bring it home. It really does sound good, but the trad has a thicker sound which I like. I'm a big fan of P-90s because of their more aggressive dirty sound so I got what I wanted.

Re: Trad and Trad Pro sound
Yea, I agree. The brighter body sounds great with the p-90s. The trad sounds exactly what I think a les Paul should sound like but the trad pro with p-90s is exactly what I was after with this guitar. More raw and aggressive. If I could only have one it would be the trad though.

I'd probably be willing to pay slightly MORE for the satin back actually. That said, an Iced Tea Traditional is still on my wish list.

Re: Trad and Trad Pro sound
I don't care for satin fronts but side and back/neck is fine. I'm used to gloss so I prefer it but the satin hasn't been a problem. I enjoy playing guitars the feel and sound different. If they were all the same we'd only need one. That's no fun.
