Have to Share - NGD: 1979 LP Custom

I've been searching for the right 1979 Custom for quite a long time. I found it Saturday by accident. I went into the local guitar shop looking to check out a new amp and saw her hanging up on the wall - with a glowing light around it and angels singing in the background. haha. My whole reason for wanting a 79 is because that's the year i was born...what made this the "right" custom for me...it was made the day before i was born...one day off. So, i had to buy it...obviously. not to mention the fact that it is all original...tuners, pots, pickups...everything - including the case.

i'll post a few more pics soon. it's in really great shape overall...and i think i got her for a pretty fair price. i'm super stoked!

anybody have an answer about the tobacco burst being a less common color in the late 70's? or a link that might help. thanks for all the great comments!

Awesome guitar man, I was born in '79 too. =P

I've got a beat up old Ovation I bought for $10 that I just tossed around for a few years, found out a few months back that it's a '79 as well, made my day! It gets treated a bit better now too.

Looks nice. Thats an unusual way to select guitar for sure. I was born in 1959 and as we all know Les Pauls from that year are not so great. Yeah I know there will be someone here who owns one from 59 and swears its really good........

i can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. if Les Paul's from 1959 "are not so great"...why are they the most coveted year of LP and the most popular reissue LP and why do original ones go for almost $300,000...more than 1958 LP's and earlier?
