Ah damn, It's about the 2008 standard taking over. Didn't see that thing next to it. I was in shock you know. Thought they discontinued the thing altogether. I need to get some sleep and lay of the beers.

Yeah dumb move, but only because there is market out there for 60's neck...
Other than that, I think the Traditional is the new standard...if the Trad. is supposed to be like the LP's from the 80's and 90', well.....those were LP Standards.
The new 08 standard, I don't know what to make of it...yet

so what happens next year? the 2008 Standard discontinued and the new one is called the 2009 Standard - yeah this will last a few years till they realise that "hey why don't we just call it a Standard".

Nicely said. Now if they offer the slim 60's neck on the Traditional that would be awesome!

The new 08' Standard should be called the 08' Experemental.

Could someone be kind enough to point out the differences? Is the 2008 Standard the LP that begins the chambered body series? And a Standard 2008 is your regular LP Standard constructed this year?

For starter's, the discontinued one has a real tear-drop burst finish.
the other has the full burst up and around the toggle switch & horn side of the neck pup. I really like the tear-drop better, even though my studio has that full burst. oh well?
