Re: Let's see your first Les Paul! thread
My first Gibson, although she didn't look quite like this until recently. I dropped the Slash signature pups in there, and added the two amber knobs to the bridge controls. Looks quite a bit like Slash's 91-92 touring guitar, sans the the 3 piece top.
Here's when I first got her. ![]() After I changed some stuff. ![]() And here is my first Les Paul Style guitar, an Epiphone Special II. Had her since 2008

Re: Let's see your first Les Paul! thread
My first LP! It's a '93 Gibson LP Studio.
It's got a lot of road wear but it plays and sounds better than any other studio I've played. Also, I got this thing for a steal! ![]() ![]()

Re: Let's see your first Les Paul! thread
I've played Strats for years, but last year I finally bought my first Les Paul. It's a 2010 Studio 50s Tribute goldtop. These Studio 50s Tributes were really popular, and the goldtops were in high demand. I probably got the last one before they were gone.

Re: Let's see your first Les Paul! thread
That's my first Les Paul, a '69 LP Deluxe goldtop. This picture is from '74 or '75.
In that time LP Deluxe guitars where often modified, so this guitars color was changed to an unburst lemontop, routed for HB and had Grovers. Don't have it any more, sold it '81 to a guy in the UK. |

Re: Let's see your first Les Paul! thread
My first LP was a 2009 Epi standard - made in Korea, bought brand new at a Daddy's Junky Music in CT...they even gave me a free Epi hardshell case!
I just sold her over this past summer....and I kind of miss her...

Re: Let's see your first Les Paul! thread
a 2008 Silverburst Standard, traded that.
then bought a 1986 Standard, couldn't get along with the low frets but effin' loved the shaws, sold that. then a 2003 Standard that is soon to get the tshawbranes and rsguitarworks pots installed. there were a couple studios in there too but they didn't last. so after some trial and error, this, soon to experience the love of skatterbrane pups and good pots. get the tissue. ![]()

Re: Let's see your first Les Paul! thread
yea, it was worth it. i needed a player that has some bumps and bruises because pristine new guitars make me crazy, my OCD kicks in. and i needed to realize just how different they all are.
so finding a nice looking, slightly mojo'd, modern fret'd, weight relieved les paul was what i needed to do. when i walked into the shop and saw her hanging there, i immediately rescued her and haven't looked back. this has caused a bit of a sell off of my other guitars that weren't getting played much. i'll keep a couple staples that i also play out, the old CU24 and the heavily mod'd mij strat. but this les paul is my favorite of the bunch. the others can be found on various forum classifieds at the moment. |
