Doug Aldrich's gold top?

Went to see Whitesnake this past Thursday and watched Doug Aldrich shred the hell out of a Les Paul gold top. He put Reb Beach to shame, and that's no easy task.

Anyway, does anyone know what model gold top he's using? This is the exact one here:

He used to always play a flame top one as well, theres a wicked youtube vid of him playing it. Shame his website gear section isn't updated.

I thought the R7 GTs were all darkbacks? This one definitely is not.

They make a 'light back' version as well. Actually the darkbacks are the rarer seen of the two.

I know his has the kidney bean chrome tuners, some I'm guessing those aren't stock.

Afaik he replaced the stock tuners with the Grovers.

I saw him a few weeks ago doing a 'Masterclass' at a music shop here in the UK. Awesome player, and a really nice funny guy too... Was a great evening. He had the gold top there too.

Saw the Snakes twice in 2009 (and one show back in 1988), great concerts. Aldrich rocks!

I hate when they remove the nibs when they refret.

Thats the Les Paul!!! Love the look of it. Looks like its had some serious playing as well, the back of the neck looks nice and worn, unless he sanded it.

Can hear bits of Randy Rhodes in his playing as well.

Aldrich picked up the guitar to start with after hearing some Jeff Beck albums, and yea I too hear the Rhoads thing in there. Here is tribute to Randy Rhoads and Ozzy that Aldrich recorded in 2000 with Dee Snider,Tony Levin and Jason Bonham.

Here's a few pics I took of Whitesnake 2 days ago in Columbia MD, unfortunately it was an all day festival and Whitesnake played last, and my camera battery died before I could get any video. They kicked ass as usual, and Coverdale spent half the night serenading, winking at, and blowing kisses to my wife, which was cool, but then Doug Aldrich waited till I went out for a piss, and propositioned her, trying to get her to flash him lol. I thought it was funny but she didnt, and she said she "hates" him now lol. Doug only threw out 2 picks the whole night, but he threw em both to my wife so I ended up with both of em.

I'm actually more of a Reb Beach guy myself, but he never came over to my side of the stage so I just took lots of pics of Doug.

Its one of my favourite guitar players, and he seems a very nice guy. One question, does that Goldtop has a 60's or 50's neck, or what neck profile does he uses on his Les Paul's?

Another doubt, sorry, what about nibs...when refret. What are nibs...?
