Les Paul Standard Doube Cut - Good Deal?

Gibson LP standard double cutaway

Going to give this a spin this afternoon. Seems priced well. I have never played a LP double cut so who knows. Is $1200 w/case a good price? He has an ebony traditional pro for $1350 as well.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

It's a little higher that what I've seen around the 'Net, but if it's in good shape and play well, sure.

Just checked some completed listings on eBay for LP DC Standards. If I can get this for $1K looks like that would be pretty fair. Saw some flame top DC Standards closing at about $1500 which seems high to me but at least there is a bit of a market. I am not big into flipping gear but also don't want to lose $$$ if need be.

I wouldn't doubt you could talk this down a little. I can't really tell, but while he mentions "plaintop", it looks like an opaque finish? If so, that could be a point to mention.

Good luck!

Thanks. I have been going back and forth between this and a new Edwards but for the money this might be the better deal and I don't have to import.

Re: Les Paul Standard Doube Cut - Good Deal?

That is the GC exclusive model from 2007. It is not technically called a Standard because unlike the DC Standards, this one has body and neck binding, as well as 3 knobs (2 v, 1t). Also the body is truer to a single cut LP. I have one, that's how I know all this

I think it's a great guitar. It's very light and sounds great - it has stock Burstbuckers.

All that makes me want it more. I thought the body was a little rounder looking that others. That explains it.

Here are a couple pictures of mine. Not great pics but you can see what it looks like. I like this guitar because it's a really interesting model that you don't see too much. The DC Pro had a similar body/neck joint to this one, but no neck binding.

Re: Les Paul Standard Doube Cut - Good Deal?

DC's look like nice guitars but never played one. All I know they are not as popular as a Reg cut Standard and can be had at a good price sometimes. For the black 900.00 would be a good deal, but I think many like my self would pay a little extra for a guitar thats fits what they are looking for. (the calls to me thing)

Offer him $1000....that would be a fair deal. DC's are "almost" Pauls-not fancy enough for me!
