Re: Another Fake.

I'm amazed that the Chinese knockoff artists still haven't gotten it right, or even remotely close.

Re: Another Fake.

Knockoffs are for the ill informed, gullible, or folks who are well aware its a fake from the get go for whatever reason...attention to detail cuts into profit margains...plus too good a fake would likely prompt swifter and harsher action.

Re: Another Fake.

i often thought that. If they used correct size frets and fret end binding along with an ebony fingerboard plus fix the serial number and stamp on the back. They did it like 90% and screwed up the neck.

Gosh, that has to be the worst headstock binding.

Re: Another Fake.

I never even looked at till now...the auction has been ended by the seller.

Is it just me or is the SN way too clean looking, and arent they stamped before finishing? Never seen one that looked raw like that....at least spit on it and rub in some dirt...

Re: Another Fake.

I e-mailed the seller that it was a fake and he pulled the auction. It seems like he honestly didn't know it was fake.

Re: Another Fake.

Truss rod cover is too far to the right just like my cheap Chinese fake.
Mine plays pretty good to be honest and the pick ups sound decent.
Going to yank the frets and put jumbos in it here soon.

Re: Another Fake.

I look through the e-bay web and Craig’s list site myself and it just amazes me to see these fake LP's. It piss’s me off to no end because someone that does ‘ant know will get burned and be out of lot of money

That Guitar Dater website is notoriously unreliable. Just because it says the serial number is legit, doesn't mean it is.

Re: Another Fake.

Alot of people post pictures of their Les Paul's showing the serial number. Just goggle Gibson LP serial numbers and you will see a ton of pictures. All these guys have to do is pick one and stamp the headstock.

Re: Another Fake.

Some are starting to look fairly real as far as the stamping of the serial numbers. They have moved the made in USA stamp to the right location.
Necks are way thin on most I have seen. The binding is still wrong too.
The headstock is a bit tall on mine like an EPI.
I think most of these come out of the EPI factory anyway because mine has all the trappings of an EPI, neck joint at the body and the longer headstock.
Looks like they add wood to the EPI headstock then shape it like a Gibson.
Well I got it cheap and it plays well enough so if it breaks no huge loss.Changed the caps and threw in a set of Alnico pro II's and its an OK copy.
The serial number on mine is the same except the last 3 digits
