Trad. Pro Faded vs. Standard Faded 2011
hi folks,
There's a little confusion about these two guitars at the moment. So maybe you know more details about them? I have just ordered a Standard Faded 50's 2011. You can see some pics here (it's a german music store): Musikhaus Hermann Online Store The only difference to the old standard faded I know so far: - plain top - speed knobs - pick guard I don't know anything about weight and I'm not sure if the spec are really correct. But on the pics the guitar looks like the new traditional pro faded 50's. what do you think? Last edited by Milamber; 04-04-2011 at 04:51 PM. |

Re: Trad. Pro Faded vs. Standard Faded 2011
I'm not sure it is weight relieved or chambered, does not say in the ad.
The pickups are burstbuckers pros as where the Trad pro has a 57 classic in the neck and a burstbucker 3 in the bridge. The necks are two different ones as well. The trad pro has the 60 style which is slimmer. The faded has the 50's which is alot bigger. Hope that helps |

I prefer Traditionals to Standards but that's just me. Both are good guitars.

When did they start to make the Standard Faded again?

Re: Trad. Pro Faded vs. Standard Faded 2011
Standard = Traditional
Long and Mcquade in Canada got 200 of these and is calling it a Traditional Faded. A couple of members took delivery already. traditional faded? So far only Honeyburst - still no official answer if it is hand stainded or sprayed color. Les Paul Traditional Faded Honey Burst Nickle Hardware.

Re: Trad. Pro Faded vs. Standard Faded 2011
DAS is eine Gutten Guitaren, yah, haberstadt dash ich bein Berliner.
That is not a Trad Pro in any sense. A Trad Pro has spit coils and a 57 Classic in the neck, plus Groover tuners. Also a real sign would be the lack of a gloss finish on the back (for Trad Pro). There are Trad Pro's now that have a 50's neck though.. Anyway, Nicen Guitaren ![]() B.

I would not trust the info on the site for the specs - why...

Re: Trad. Pro Faded vs. Standard Faded 2011
I don't care about truss rod cover or poti knobs, that's really unimportant. The specs are the old one, while the pics show the new model.
More important for me, is what's inside! And that's the big question. It is really the legendary Standard faded? Same woods, same construction? Same PUs? |

Which Standard Faded, 60s necked - chambered body? 50s / weight relieved 60s weight relieved - 50s Chambered??? I'd be most worried about the PUP Specs - Traditionals have 57 Classic and 57 Classic + vs the BBs that the site shows. Are these sprayed or stained? |

Re: Trad. Pro Faded vs. Standard Faded 2011
As far as i know, the standard faded's came in both a 50's and 60's neck option , i have the 50's one , i had to peel off a small sticker that said 50 on it, They have burst bucker pros in them , mine being a 2007 is chambered , im told some earlier ones weren't , regardless i can testify to the fact they are the best value Gibson les paul model ever, they take a bit of getting used to as they are very light but they are so resonant and alive. They also come with the bell controls and not the speed knobs , i put reflectors on mine. People comment on here that a lot of them look very dare i say it like the Slash sig when you stick the reflectors on them , i think they are on to something , maybe this can account for the rise in price on the resale in part ? All said and done a bargain when i bought mine !!!!!!

Re: Trad. Pro Faded vs. Standard Faded 2011
My Standard Faded is an '05 and the thing looks almost identical to the Slash AFD. In fact, the reason I haven't put reflectors on it is because it will then be indistinguishable. I have played quite a few LPs from modern USAs to Custom Shops to vintage (my father in law has a '69 Deluxe) and I'd take that '05 Stadard Faded over the lot of them. And yes, mine is not chambered. That didn't start till '06, I believe.
If Gibson does in fact start making these again, I'd snatch one up in a heart beat, provided it isn't chambered. Dave |

Some really good SF Porn - C*V Guitars - "PG Mod" Guitars I own is # 112 - I picked this one up last week - should be over to CV pretty soon. ![]() Both are 2007 / Chambered - the Honeyburst I just did the Virtuoso polish to the top. One of the downsides of the Satin Finish is that in spots where you touch the guitar a lot, the neck, the back by your ribcage, where your fingers rest below the high E string ( where a pick guard would cover) while picking, effectively get polished while playing by the rubbing. This HB is is super condition, not a mark on the back, but there were high shine marks on the neck, bass side of the back, and in the pick guard area. Sort of the opposite of Road Worn

Re: Trad. Pro Faded vs. Standard Faded 2011
Just bought what appears to be a Standard Faded in Montreal manufactured in 2011. The Distributor uses the model number LPTDFLBNH. However, inside my case with the hand written serial number is the Gibson factory model number LP5FTBNH1 - which is the same as the Standard faded sold up until the end of 2008. Here is the Gibson brochure for that model number:
http://www.gibson.com/Files/USA_PDFs/Data_LP_faded.pdf In any case it's a beauty. The store in Montreal had about 4, all different tops from highly flamed to plain. |

Re: Trad. Pro Faded vs. Standard Faded 2011
Nope, mine is LP5FTBNH1
Check through this old price list for model number interpretations, it IS LP5F as in FIVE. There are also model numbers starting with LP6F for 60s necks. http://www.arcoirismusic.com/ftp/doc...fas/GIBSON.pdf |

Re: Trad. Pro Faded vs. Standard Faded 2011
OK, there are no Standard fadeds being made right now. They were discontinued a while ago. What you see these days are Traditional fadeds. The confusions arises because Gibson did not create a new model/part number for these and simply recycled the old one from the Standard fadeds.
These new Trad fadeds have a '50s neck (seems a lot of them, like mine, have a '59 neck), speed knobs (rather than top hat knobs), are weight relieved rather than chambered, and have '57 Classic pickups.
