Re: goldtops with P90s ?
The R6's can be had used for the $1800-$2400 mark conditions vary. I bought my 97' R6 used and was fortunate enough to be at the right place, right time deal. My had a little uniqueness to it. It was a custom order from a band mate from blink 182. The pickguard never installed from the factory. I absolutely love her and can't imagine life without her

Re: goldtops with P90s ?
Couldnt help with the prices, there was a 52 Tribute at my local store for about $3000 (Canadian, Trads are about $2500) I wanted it bad, but didnt have the money, they are rare though.

funny you said that, i played one locally a couple months ago and that started this fetish for P90 GTs but the $2800 price spanked me back to reality real fast, well, that and the god awful trap tailpiece. i had been looking to snag a couple P90 guitars for the stable because i love the sound, on the search for a dcjr i found the GT and decided i should consider one for my high end of the p90 options. |

Re: goldtops with P90s ?
I might be mistaken, but I seem to recall hearing that R4s are generally among the lesser priced R- models, I guess because alot of people dont like or want the wraparound bridge. It really is more a niche thing, but if it were me (and some day it will be) I'd look for an R4

Re: goldtops with P90s ?
The R6 has a real big chunky neck. I like it but on the other hand lots of folks hate it. It really has a large neck, bigger than the 50's necks.

Re: goldtops with P90s ?
ugh thats what i was afraid of! my SGs neck has spoiled the hell out of me and i really love a thin neck. thats not to say having a log neck may not have its appeal but ive just found everything else to be a turn off in my hands after the SG.

Re: goldtops with P90s ?
Go check it out and see what you think of it. At least this way you will know if the neck is too big for you or not....

Re: goldtops with P90s ?
What Oranjeaap said...I have a 1991 Deluxe and put P90's in it, but any deluxe with minihums will accept P90's and they are a lot less expensive, and you can find them with the 60's neck carve. Good luck!
