Guitar Of The Week #20

Gibson announced guitar of the week #20 to be limited to 400 items.
http://www.electric-guitar-review.co...o-satin-ebony/

"...The Gibson Les Paul Studio in Satin Ebony will be available in a strictly limited edition of 400 instruments, after which they will be out to pasture...."
http://www.electric-guitar-review.co...o-satin-ebony/ at the bottom of the paragraph

here I saw on ebay an item...
GIBSON Les Paul Limited Edition - Ebony Satin on eBay, also Gibson, Electric, Guitars, Musical Instruments (end time 16-Jun-08 20:00:00 BST)

and its serial number...
direct URL to the serial
http://i10.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/f5/5e/bcc6_1.JPG

the batch number is 590, while limitation was 400.

Re: Guitar Of The Week #20

The GOTWs do not have unique serial numbers- they are just numbered along with all the other Gibson USA guitars. The 590 is simply a production number.

Re: Guitar Of The Week #20

No problem. I wish they had individually numbered the GOTWs- but oh well.

If you going to get one here's a couple of things u should know... It's chambered, and top heavy maybe because of the Grovers.

here is a few pics of mine:

Re: Guitar Of The Week #20

Grovers are a brand of tuning machines. Some consider them 'the best'. They are definitely good.
I have them on my Epiphone Flying V, and they are okay, but I prefer the 'look' of the Kluson-style tuners.

Re: Guitar Of The Week #20

If the Grovers make the guitar neck-heavy, you can change the tuner knobs to pearloid or ebony ones. It makes a big difference---the chrome knobs are solid, and they are surprisingly heavy.

I see you've got another Les Paul (small visible piece, on the left)
how would you compare that one with GOTW 20?

I'd like to hear you general comparison and then how GOTW is good for heavy metal

thanks ahead!!!

the other one u see on that picture is a 2006 LP Standard with 60's neck, the GOTW 20 is lighter since it's chambered but the neck feels better , to me at least, because of the 50's neck and the satin finish makes it very fast....the pickups are EMG's 85/81 and you either like 'em or not....I like them a lot.

Also the pickups have the quick connect cables so when you are restringing you can swap with other emg's or maybe something like Duncan Blackouts, by just unscrewing the pickups rings...Great guitar for metal and this is what it was made for, but also if you roll back the volume on the neck pickup you can get some nice warm bluesy sounds.
