Anyone see a Les Paul with a Floyd Rose?

I had a Gibson custom shop one years ago. It was red and had only one pick up. I stupidly sold it to someone who resold it later.

Has anyone seen anything like this?

well I have seen one with a factory Kahler, I had one that had a Floyd Rose in it, but installed after by the previous owner
I understand there is a Neal Schon Les Paul that has a factory Floyd in it

There was one just like that with a really good top & refinish on ebay & they practcally had to give it away might even the the same guitar

A part of me on the inside cringes when I think of what would have to be done to the body in order to install one of those hellish things on a Les Paul. Not to mention that only a locking nut system would keep it from drifting out of tune when you use the trem, and that would require MORE alterations.

An interesting idea, to be sure...but...on a Les Paul?
Just my opinion, but maybe those modifications would be better suited to an SG.
That's just my 2 cents.

the four Gibson Les Paul I ever bought I found used in this shop in San Diego that specialized in PA Gear, first time in but he had a few guitars on the wall, including one of the early first Studios, with the binding and dot neck, asked em, if he had any others, and said he just taken in a 85 Standard, Came back with the case and warned me before he popped the latchs it had a Floyd in it, I cringed then, but after playing it thru a Peavey Classic 50 for bout 20 Minutes, I discovered it also had Seymour's in it I wound up buying it, and making alot of apologies in music stores every time I went to test an amp with it, Then I found Miss Honey in another San Diego shop and bought her, a good buddy and fellow Les Paul addict told me he was without an LP and needed one, I sold em the Red Standard
The job done on that guitar was pro all the way but OUCH I totally agree
also saw a Heritage 80 flame top somebody had put a Kahler in and somebody else took out and tried to cover the routing, double ouch

Yep. I know somebody who has one or two of the (impossibly tough to find!) Gibson Floyd adapters. No routing required, just pop a Floyd base on there and the springs do the work.

I believe he may be selling them (it's not me) if you're interested.

I have 4 of those, Serial has two. I also have a complete, factory original flat mount Floyd.

Brad Gillis has a 1978 Les Paul Custom with a Floyd on it. He used it on the latest Vicious Rumors "WarBall" CD.

Cool, huh? El Toro gets the baseplate(along with two others), but I am keeping the complete rigs. Notice the curved bottom on the plates, they match a late 70's/Early 80's top carve exactly.

I wasn't gonna admit this but .... I had my local luthier install a floyd on a black LP standard from the 80's !!! Man did i "F" that guitar up !! Ohh I also put chrome pickup rings , high power pup's and a chrome toggle switch too .. Man was it METAL !! lol ...... Sorry no pics .. it was a long time ago ...

Yes i have seen them at the Floyd Rose site, and have seen them
on guitars in a few bands..............they rock!
Thats the only thing i miss on my Pauls is the ability to
whammy now and then............Bigsbys just arent the same.
Its made for a curved top Les Paul, no routing needed just
take off bridge and stop bar and flop it in.
I would probably put on on an Epiphone paul.............just in case thogh

Take a look at this gold top. It belongs to a buddy of mine. I think it kicks.
According to the serial number it is a 71 or 73. What do y"all think the possibility of the kahler being original?

If you look at the top pic, You can see the 85 LP Std I had that had JB F Spaced Pickup, with a 59 in the neck, and that black Floyd Rose that was installed by a previous owner, really didnt use the Floyd much at all, though I liked the action and tones from this guitar, sold it to a long time friend in dire need of another Les Paul

I guitarist I used to work with had his LP Standard routed for a standard Floyd Rose, and had a locking nut installed.

It worked perfectly, stayed in tune, sounded great, and would dive-bomb into the depths of hell and back.

I've never even heard of these, when did they make them?

I'm not a huge Floyd fan, but that's really cool. How well do they work?

There's a repairman local to me that has 6 of them in the box. He wants an arm, a leg, and a kidney for them. Personally, I've never tried one so I have no opinion.
