It's real, I've yet to see a Studio model faked, no sense in that.

Because, LP Studios are the cheaper alternative to Standards and Customs (the two most faked LPs), so why would they bother?

As far as the whole fake Epi thing goes? They do it because the overall quality between a Gibson and an Epi, in most cases, is very different, so they think that nobody will notice. HA! Also, most of them aren't technically fake, they're what is known as "back door" guitars. In other words; Someone in the factory either takes pieces of unfinished guitars, and assembles them outside of the factory, or they take guitars that were deemed to be full of flaws, and try to pass them off as new, legitimate guitars.

I'd really like to see proof for that.
If they're "back-door" guitars, why would they differ from real Epis?

Re: is that real gibson ?

Oh, those are bad fakes.

Want a good fake? Contact "Mr. S" right here on MLP, he'll sell you a forgery and you can then say it was just "a mistake".

Other forgeries are bad, his are acceptable here.

Most of them don't really...IF you know exactly what to look for. Also, if you notice the differences in the attention to detail between most of the legit Epis (even ones that came from the same factory in the same year) you'll notice all kinds of differences/inconsistancies that it's not even funny.

And, if they differ so much, why is it sometimes a lot harder to tell the difference between a real one and a fake?

Here's a post from a couple of years ago that diceman posted about these "back door" Epis:

I was stationed in Korea at this time, and bought a number of "unlicensed" legitimate Epiphone guitars that had come out the "back door" of the Unsung factory where they were being made. So... FYI - there ARE "fake" as well as "unlicensed" Epiphone guitars out there...

Of course there isn't. It's not illegal there (or many other places). What's illegal is exporting them to countries where it IS illegal. And it's the importers and distributors we need to be after. There's no way to "get to" the manufacturers.

No, you're right. I just didn't want anyone to be misinformed by the above statement.
