Dunlop 65
Hello chaps
Is Dunlop 65 polish safe to use on a Nitro Les Paul finish. Will it damage it over time? Just been looking a different cleaner/polish in my local shop, and the guys there couldn't tell for sure if it was safe. Thanks |

Re: Dunlop 65
Looking at nitro too hard is bad for it. Just go the extra step and buy some virtuoso cleaner and polish. Yeah, it costs more, and I can't for sure say that the Dunlop 65 is unsafe for nitro while the Virtuoso is, but hot damn if Virtuoso doesn't work better than anything else you can buy. Just do a google image search for virtuoso polish before and after.

Re: Dunlop 65
I emailed them a couple months ago and this was the response:
Thanks for the email. Yes, Formula 65 polish is OK for a nitro finish. I would not use it if there are cracks, weather checking, or dings in the finish. I also would not use it if it is an old and thin finish. No matter who the manufacturer is of the polish, rubbing on a thin and old nitro finish with a liquid and a cloth can take off color---I've seen it first hand. To be honest, on my vintage guitars, I do not use any polish. Sorry if this is confusing, but I'm being totally honest. Please let me know if you have any further questions. |
